I aimed to make learning to read fun by immersing them in both conventional and non-conventional literacy experiences. Your contribution made this possible.\r\n\r\nThe children were thrilled to participate in activities like glowing hopscotch phonics, relay races with sight words, and light table phonics. The gym was filled with word wonder!!! In the library,watching the local basketball team engage in flashlight reading with the students was truly inspiring and, I believe, a life-changing moment that sparked a love for reading.The word scavenger hunt and glow coloring added to the reading excitement for students and their families. While the auditorium transformed into a stage for reading comprehension fun. For these students it was their first experience in school. I quickly needed items to help keep them engaged, organized, and communicating. Most students were non-verbal, so having access to ready-made visuals organization items, and other very useful resources from Teachers Pay Teachers were a huge help! The students enjoyed the items and would work to use them if they weren't already incorporated with instruction. These students were learning to sit at a table. Over time and with the help of these materials they began to want to be at the table and could attend to tasks for greater lengths of time. Health was a great concern and using items to keep everyone safe such as the thermometer and shields were a help!
