We have been using the foam letter tiles and magnetic whiteboards during small group phonics instruction to practice building and decoding words. One specific activity the students love is a \"word building switch it\" activity where students change a letter to make a new word. It encourages hands-on learning, and helps strengthen their decoding skills in a fun way.\r\n\r\nThe headphones and privacy shields have also been extremely helpful during benchmark testing and i-ready lessons. Students are able to focus more, which has supported their scores and skills. The reading games have added excitement to skill review, especially for comprehension. The alphabet desk strips are helpful for students to refer to for letter and sound recognition as well as letter formation. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were genuinely excited and eager to use everything right away. Many of them immediately asked when they could use the games and headphones, and they were especially excited about the foam letter tiles because they made learning feel interactive and playful. The new books also sparked interest, and students were excited to explore different titles during reading time. The 3-Tier cart also helps to keep materials organized and small groups running smoothly. Overall, the resources have helped create a more engaging and supportive learning environment for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1770930837755,"projectUrl":"project/readers-start-here-growing-strong-foun/9853001/","projectTitle":"“Readers Start Here: Growing Strong Foundations in Literacy”","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Crawford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9146158"},{"teacherId":9696752,"projectId":9846713,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of a classroom rug for my students. Every single day, my students use it to relax while reading, engage in math lessons, and sit beside their partners as they learn and build friendships I hope will last forever.\r\nThe rug has also created such a special space for our classroom community. I get to gather my students together for story time, where they listen, laugh, and learn together. They may be a little older, but not too old to sit together and enjoy being read to. Your kindness has truly made our classroom feel warmer, more welcoming, and full of connection. My students absolutely love the reading and math games that were sent and have been using them to reinforce instruction during small group rotations. \r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they saw the big box arrive and wanted to see so badly what was inside. After I opened the box and told them that I had gotten new games for them to play in small group they were ecstatic! They started asking when they would get to play them and looking through the different ones I had gotten. So far after playing multiple games their favorite one is the vocabulary board game. They love when they get to play that during reading group rotations. \r\n\r\nCurrently, students are working on improving their reading academic vocabulary so they have been using the games during small group to closely work with each topic and gain a better understanding of the words. For example, students' participated in several matching activity games that focused on summarizing, character traits, theme, and inferencing.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, my students will continue to use these games during small group rotations and for intervention groups. I also have been encouraging them to play the games during indoor recess as well and a lot of them do since they enjoy playing them. In terms of classroom lessons we are learning about cause and effect text structure and fractions so I plan to use the cause and effect games I have along with the fraction ones to reinforce what they are learning during whole group instruction.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for contributing to my classroom and my students. Many of my students benefit from having reduced background noise, especially with our class size being so big this year! The headphones allow them to stay engaged, motivated, and confident while working at their own pace. My students are incredibly resilient, curious, and full of potential. Every day, they walk into class ready to learn, even when challenges outside of school try to get in their way. Your generosity is helping me create a space where they feel safe, heard, and supported. They are truly thriving.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have made a huge difference during independent learning. With so many activities happening at once, the classroom can get busy, but the headphones help students tune in, stay focused, and feel more confident working at their own pace. One of my students, who often struggles with concentration, proudly shared, \"I can finally hear my work!\" moments after putting them on for the first time.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards and markers have become a favorite tool during reading and math time. Students love using them to show their thinking, practice new skills, and try again without fear of making mistakes. I recently watched a small group excitedly demonstrate different ways to solve a subtraction problem, erasing and correcting as they explained their steps to each other. That level of engagement and collaboration has grown because they now have tools that make learning hands-on and low-pressure.\r\n\r\nThe addition of flexible seating has helped students take ownership of their learning. Whether they choose a floor cushion, a wobble stool, or a quiet corner, students are discovering how they learn best. This choice has boosted both engagement and self-regulation, especially during longer reading and writing tasks.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the room buzzed with excitement. Students immediately explored each item, asking, \"Can we use these today?\" Their reactions made it clear how meaningful these resources are to them.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these tools to support focus, independence, and collaborative learning as we dive into new literacy and math units. With your help, I can meet the diverse needs of all my learners and create a classroom that tells each child, \"You belong here, and you can succeed.\"\r\n\r\nThank you for making such a powerful impact on my students' learning and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1756046395059,"projectUrl":"project/a-safe-space-to-think-learn-and-grow/9389589/","projectTitle":"A Safe Space to Think, Learn, and Grow","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. West","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9265849_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y547&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694375334177","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9265849"},{"teacherId":7677130,"projectId":9687224,"letterContent":"Our StoryBook STEM: Exploring Frida Kahlo Through Art and Engineering project helped students connect reading, art, and science in a meaningful way.
