My students are incredibly resilient, curious, and full of potential. Every day, they walk into class ready to learn, even when challenges outside of school try to get in their way. Your generosity is helping me create a space where they feel safe, heard, and supported. They are truly thriving.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have made a huge difference during independent learning. With so many activities happening at once, the classroom can get busy, but the headphones help students tune in, stay focused, and feel more confident working at their own pace. One of my students, who often struggles with concentration, proudly shared, \"I can finally hear my work!\" moments after putting them on for the first time.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards and markers have become a favorite tool during reading and math time. Students love using them to show their thinking, practice new skills, and try again without fear of making mistakes. I recently watched a small group excitedly demonstrate different ways to solve a subtraction problem, erasing and correcting as they explained their steps to each other. That level of engagement and collaboration has grown because they now have tools that make learning hands-on and low-pressure.\r\n\r\nThe addition of flexible seating has helped students take ownership of their learning. Whether they choose a floor cushion, a wobble stool, or a quiet corner, students are discovering how they learn best. This choice has boosted both engagement and self-regulation, especially during longer reading and writing tasks.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the room buzzed with excitement. Students immediately explored each item, asking, \"Can we use these today?\" Their reactions made it clear how meaningful these resources are to them.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these tools to support focus, independence, and collaborative learning as we dive into new literacy and math units. With your help, I can meet the diverse needs of all my learners and create a classroom that tells each child, \"You belong here, and you can succeed.\"\r\n\r\nThank you for making such a powerful impact on my students' learning and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1756046395059,"projectUrl":"project/a-safe-space-to-think-learn-and-grow/9389589/","projectTitle":"A Safe Space to Think, Learn, and Grow","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. West","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9265849_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y547&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1694375334177","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9265849"},{"teacherId":9124120,"projectId":9150161,"letterContent":"The materials are wonderful! As a Lighthouse School, it is essential that our students understand and implement the 7 Habits consistently, and these framed posters help make that vision visible and accessible to everyone. Each student now has their own chair, along with exciting new options that have truly transformed the way we learn together.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting the new resources to use in meaningful ways. During reading workshop, students love spreading out with lap tables and floor cushions to get comfortable while they read and write. Others enjoy using the active seats, which allow them to quietly move while still focusing on their work. The variety has given students ownership over their learning space and boosted both engagement and focus.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first walked in and saw the new seating, their faces lit up with joy. They were overjoyed to see that they had new, clean boards to write their spelling words on and try out new math strategies. We then discussed how we can show our gratitude by taking care of them. \r\n\r\nThe students have been able to use them day in and day out in the classroom, and I have enjoyed having enough materials to go around. The students write dictation sentences on our boards, and have their peers correct their spelling or punctuation using a different colored dry erase marker. \r\n\r\nWhen learning about finding the areas of shapes, we were able to use the white boards with grid lines. I'm very thankful to have those special boards, to reduce having to print out so many sheets of grid paper.
