Materials included books, posters, interactive boards, picture cards and puzzles. \r\n\r\nMy students have loved all of the materials thus far. I have been able to use a variety of the materials in small group and/or individual sessions. In addition, I have also been able to use the materials across grade levels from 1st through 5th grade. Fortunately, the materials have increased task engagement for all students. \r\n\r\nThe students love when the play-doh mats are used at the end of the lesson to reinforce the emotion posters or the current emotion book. The students love the puzzles when they are encouraged to use turn-taking and listening skills. The students love the white boards when asked to draw out facial expressions that match a scenario.","fullyFundedDate":1762693194507,"projectUrl":"project/putting-social-emotional-learning-first/9881200/","projectTitle":"Putting Social-Emotional Learning First","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Naftzinger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10345225"},{"teacherId":10328071,"projectId":9854843,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom through the DonorsChoose project \"The Magic of Words: Awakening Reading in Spanish.\" Your contribution has had a meaningful and immediate impact on my students and on our learning environment.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the materials, my students have been actively using the new Spanish books during independent reading time and small group activities. The comfortable reading seats and new classroom furniture have allowed us to create a dedicated reading corner where students feel relaxed, focused, and excited to engage with texts in Spanish. One of the most special moments was seeing my students' faces light up as they explored the books for the first time, eagerly flipping through the pages and asking when they could start reading.\r\n\r\nThe consumable materials, such as pencils and art supplies, have also supported creative projects connected to our reading lessons, helping students express their understanding through drawings, vocabulary activities, and short written reflections. These resources have helped improve organization, engagement, and overall classroom atmosphere.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue developing their reading skills in Spanish through guided reading activities, literacy centers, and collaborative projects that promote language development and cultural awareness. Thanks to your generosity, my classroom is now a more inspiring place where students feel motivated to learn and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1761486846905,"projectUrl":"project/the-magic-of-words-awakening-reading-in/9854843/","projectTitle":"The Magic of Words: Awakening Reading in Spanish","teacherDisplayName":"Sra. The resources we received perfectly meet our educational needs and have allowed us to enrich classroom activities in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWe make responsible, continuous, and effective use of all the material, fully integrating it into our planning and regular classroom routines. Thanks to these resources, we are able to offer more varied, engaging activities that are adapted to different learning paces, which has a very positive impact on students' educational development.\r\n\r\nThe children are very happy with the material and use it enthusiastically and frequently. The first thing the students noticed was the bright new rug! We love that it has large squares so everyone has their own spot to sit when listening to a story, completing morning calendar, or just reading a book with a friend.\r\nThey also noticed the new bookshelves with easy reader books and were very excited to get busy reading (the whole point of the project!) It is nice to see them have a corner of the room where students can get comfortable and just read by themselves or in a small group. We use this spot almost daily as students become more confident in their reading skills. They love to share books with their friends!\r\nI am continuing to add new books to our reading corner as they show more and more interest in reading. We have it stocked with \"book buddies\" to read with (stuffed animals), a small light, a small rug, and some rocking chairs and it gets used quite a bit. They are getting more work finished because they \"want\" to read.\r\nThanks again for your wonderful donation in support of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1760928631463,"projectUrl":"project/building-readers/9847122/","projectTitle":"Building Readers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Junge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10323338"},{"teacherId":7025079,"projectId":9841831,"letterContent":"From the moment the first boxes began to arrive, my student were eager and excited to explore the new books. With each subsequent package, the anticipation continued to build. \r\n\r\nOne of our custodians graciously offered to assemble the new books display, and I went to work labeling and organizing the new books. Within a few days, the new additional library shelf stocked with books was ready to go. \r\n\r\nThe students are now actively enjoying the books that are a part of our new library. The books I chose celebrates the diverse population of my class. There are books about African American hair, Muslim traditions, and Native Americans. There are also books about emotions, careers and famous Americans. I intentionally purchased as many nonfiction books as possible.\r\n\r\nMy students and I are beyond grateful for those who donated to make this project possible.","fullyFundedDate":1760883473023,"projectUrl":"project/the-gift-of-reading/9841831/","projectTitle":"The Gift of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rouse","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7025079"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44479","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":683,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":59,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"16.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":64.9,"schoolId":44479,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about South Dover Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"South Dover Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/delaware/capital-school-district/south-dover-elementary-school/44479"}
