Your contribution has had a meaningful and visible impact on our students' learning experiences.\r\n\r\nThrough the new reading materials focused on ancient civilizations, students deepened their understanding of how Europe developed as a complex and interconnected continent. They were genuinely excited to read and learn about the many aspects of Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. The high-quality books and images supported comprehension and served as excellent tools for students to formulate questions in Spanish and engage in \"turn and talk\" discussions with their peers.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the headphones made a significant difference in our Spanish speaking activities. These tools allowed students to practice key listening and speaking skills while preparing for the STAMP test they take each year. The headphones are of excellent quality and precision, enabling students to record audio on a variety of topics, listen to themselves, and self-assess their progress. This process greatly increased their confidence and awareness of their language skills.\r\n\r\nI am pleased to share photographs of my students actively engaged, enjoying the learning process, and strengthening their Spanish proficiency. None of this would have been possible without your empathy, commitment, and support.\r\n\r\nThank you once again to Governor Meyer and all donors for believing in this project and in our students' success.","fullyFundedDate":1762737679277,"projectUrl":"project/listening-reading-and-speaking-for-suc/9877282/","projectTitle":"Listening, Reading, and Speaking for Success in Spanish Immersion","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Alvarez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7657509"},{"teacherId":10310204,"projectId":9822727,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in funding our Phonics Literacy Lab for Multilingual Learner (MLL) students. Because of you, my classroom has been transformed into a space where students feel supported, confident, and motivated to grow as readers.\r\nI have used all of the lab materials, with a strong focus on my students at lower proficiency levels. Through intentional small-group instruction for students in MTSS Tier 2 and Tier 3, I provided explicit instruction in phonics, decoding, fluency, and vocabulary—skills many of my students had never been taught before arriving in U.S. schools. What stood out most was their willingness to learn. Students came to the lab eager to practice, ask questions, and try again, even when the work felt challenging.\r\nOne of the most exciting outcomes has been measurable growth. Several students have already moved up to the next ARC color level, which has been incredibly empowering for them. They are beginning to see themselves as capable readers, and that confidence is carrying over into their other classes.\r\nThe books included in this grant have also been a huge success. Because many of them were written at accessible Lexile levels, students could read independently with confidence. Engagement increased immediately—students were reading more, participating more, and proudly sharing what they understood. For many, this was the first time reading felt possible instead of frustrating.\r\nI am deeply grateful for these amazing resources. Your generosity has made a lasting impact on my students' literacy development and self-belief. Thank you for investing in their futures and for believing in the power of language and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1760373706634,"projectUrl":"project/phonics-library-for-mll-secondary-studen/9822727/","projectTitle":"Phonics Library For MLL Secondary Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Coverdale","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10310204"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44596","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":460,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":17,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":44596,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Beacon Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Beacon Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/delaware/cape-henlopen-school-district/beacon-middle-school/44596"}
