Every week students trade in and out two books from our newly updated classroom library. This routine has surely inspired many of my students to try out new books and look forward to reading each week! I can confidently say that my library is now equip with a variety of genres and fascinating new characters. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, students are enjoying our new book bench. It's the perfect place to cozy up with a book and stuffed animal and enjoy with a fellow classmate. I did a mini lesson on how we will implement the listening centers and they were so quiet so that they would not miss any instructions.\r\nSince February is \"I Love to Read\" Month my hope is to begin using these listening players for independent centers and during morning arrival. I want students to absolutely love reading and to find a genre or series of books that just pull them in. Since I was able to get a variety of YOTO cards that include fiction and non-fiction stories I feel that this will be possible. I truly believe that once students find stories that hook them they will be destined to be life long readers. \r\nThank you for adding this resource to my classroom and for helping hundreds of first graders learn to love reading in the next several years. We've been working on letter sounds, blending, and simple word building using the new phonics tools and manipulatives. One of my favorite moments was watching students use letter tiles to sound out words together—students who were previously hesitant are now eager to participate and try on their own.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were immediately excited and curious. They couldn't wait to touch, explore, and use them. The visual and hands-on nature of the resources helped students feel more confident and made learning feel fun instead of intimidating. Several students proudly said they felt like \"real readers\" for the first time.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building on these skills by practicing blending sounds into words, reading simple sentences, and applying what they've learned during guided reading and small-group instruction. These resources will continue to support students as they grow into more confident readers and writers. Your contribution has made a meaningful difference in my Spanish RA classroom, and I am truly grateful for your commitment to literacy and cultural learning.\r\n\r\nThe bilingual books you provided introduce students to far more than vocabulary. Through these texts, students are developing early literacy skills such as comprehension, making connections, and understanding story structure, while also being exposed to cultural perspectives and language patterns in Spanish. These books help students see reading not just as decoding words, but as a way to explore ideas, emotions, and cultures.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom is an interactive and flexible experience. Students engage with books during whole-group read-alouds, small-group activities, and independent reading time. I also created a quiet corner where students can choose a book and read at their own pace. This space has become especially valuable for students who need a calm environment to focus and enjoy reading.\r\n\r\nOne of my main goals is to instill a love for the Spanish language—particularly in students who are not part of the Spanish immersion program and may initially feel intimidated by learning a new language. The bilingual books have helped lower that barrier. Seeing familiar ideas presented in both languages builds confidence and curiosity, making Spanish feel accessible and exciting.\r\n\r\nInterestingly, the students who have benefited the most are those who often struggle with focus. Having these engaging, visually rich books available in the quiet corner has been a great success. These students are choosing to read, staying engaged longer, and developing a positive relationship with books and language.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and for supporting bilingual literacy.
