This year, Multicultural Night took place right at the start of the school year, before we had received the tents. Because it was our first time holding this event outdoors, we relied on families to lend and bring in tents so we could move the celebration outside. Despite the extra coordination, the event was extremely well attended, and hosting it outdoors made a tremendous difference. We were not crowded, it stayed much cooler, and we were even able to include a DJ who played music throughout the evening. Parents repeatedly shared how much they loved the outdoor setting and felt it was a huge improvement over past years.\r\n\r\nWhile we were grateful for families who helped, coordinating borrowed tents was challenging and stressful, especially relying on timely drop-off and pick-up. Having access to school-owned tents will make planning and hosting future events significantly easier and more reliable. Your donation will allow us to confidently hold Multicultural Night outdoors again next year, ensuring a comfortable, welcoming, and joyful experience for everyone.\r\n\r\nBeyond Multicultural Night, these tents will be used for many other school events, including STEM Night, Spring Picnic, Field Day, Literacy Night, Math Night, and more...providing much-needed shade from the sun or shelter from the rain. We are deeply appreciative of your support and the lasting impact it will have on our school community. I am including photos from this year's Multicultural Night so you can see firsthand how meaningful this event was for our families. Thank you for helping us create such a positive and memorable experience for our students and their families.","fullyFundedDate":1759260081097,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-us-together-rain-or-shine/9413205/","projectTitle":"\"Bringing Us Together, Rain or Shine\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Felicissimo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6018632_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y254&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1671212254959","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6018632"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62446","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":342,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":62446,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Florence Smith STEM School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Florence Smith STEM School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/west-hartford-public-school-district/smith-math-science-tech-school/62446"}
