The moment the books arrived, students rushed to the boxes with excitement, eagerly opened up the boxes, and started flipping through pages and sharing titles they had been hoping to read. Many students who were previously hesitant readers immediately connected with the graphic novels and became excited about independent reading time. These new resources have helped create a classroom culture where reading feels engaging, accessible, and fun for every learner.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts of this project has been watching students take ownership of our classroom reading environment. Inspired by the One Piece graphic novel series, students worked together to create a themed reading nook complete with a handmade pirate flag from the story and student-created posters featuring favorite characters. The space quickly became a favorite spot in our classroom, filled with students reading, discussing stories, and recommending books to one another. The enthusiasm has spread beyond our classroom walls, and students from other classes have even started visiting to borrow books and ask for recommendations. It has been incredible to see reading become such a meaningful and social experience for our students.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, students are continuing to grow as readers, thinkers, and members of a strong reading community. Thank you for helping my students experience the joy of reading and for investing in their curiosity, creativity, and love of books. Your support has truly transformed our classroom into a vibrant community of readers.","fullyFundedDate":1773876818954,"projectUrl":"project/set-sail-with-stories-graphic-novels-a/10155998/","projectTitle":"Set Sail With Stories - Graphic Novels and Nutmeg Nominees","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mellon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9454802"},{"teacherId":9454802,"projectId":10010239,"letterContent":"Your generosity brought science, wonder, and hands-on learning to life in our classroom through our \"From Caterpillar to Classroom: Learning Through Butterflies and Planting\" project. From the moment the caterpillars arrived, my students were completely captivated. Every day, they eagerly observed and documented the changes in the life cycle, asking thoughtful questions and making connections to our science lessons. Watching the caterpillars transform into butterflies created unforgettable moments of excitement, curiosity, and joy. The planting materials also gave students the opportunity to care for living things and better understand how plants and pollinators work together in nature.\r\n\r\nThese new resources have transformed our classroom into an interactive learning environment filled with exploration and discovery. One especially meaningful moment was the day we released the butterflies outside together. Students cheered as the butterflies flew away, and many shared how proud they felt to have cared for them throughout the process. The experience encouraged teamwork, responsibility, patience, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our learning is continuing to grow. Our next steps include transplanting our pollinator flowers into our school garden. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to experience authentic, hands-on learning that they will remember long after this school year ends. Your kindness and generosity made a lasting impact on our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1768504697487,"projectUrl":"project/from-caterpillar-to-classroom-learning/10010239/","projectTitle":"From Caterpillar to Classroom: Learning Through Butterflies and Planting","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mellon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9454802"},{"teacherId":9454802,"projectId":9280231,"letterContent":"Our classroom is buzzing with excitement and focus thanks to the generous support of our donors! The new wiggle stools, elastic chair bands, sensory cushions, floor desks, and flexible lighting have transformed our learning environment into a space that meets the needs of all learners. Students who once found it difficult to sit still or focus during lessons now have movement options that help them stay engaged. The wiggle stools and chair bands allow for quiet movement while students work, giving them the sensory input they need to concentrate better and participate more fully in discussions and activities.\r\n\r\nThe addition of floor and table lamps has also made a big difference. Instead of harsh overhead lights, we now have a calm, cozy classroom atmosphere that supports reading, writing, and small group work. Students love choosing where to sit—some prefer the bright focus of a table lamp while others settle into a softer corner with a floor lamp and a floor desk. This sense of ownership over their workspace has built confidence, independence, and a stronger sense of community.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include helping students reflect on how these resources support their learning and self-regulation. We'll continue to model and discuss how movement and lighting choices can help with focus and emotional balance. I also plan to collect student feedback to guide future classroom updates—perhaps adding a few more flexible seating options and mindfulness tools. Thanks to these generous donations, we've taken a huge step toward creating a learning environment where every student can thrive!","fullyFundedDate":1755738626498,"projectUrl":"project/mood-move-and-mindfulness/9280231/","projectTitle":"Mood, Move, and Mindfulness","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mellon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9454802"},{"teacherId":9454802,"projectId":9237177,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support of our classroom project, Books with Heart: Fostering Empathy and Emotional Growth. Students are\r\nengaging in meaningful conversations about characters' choices, feelings, and experiences. In addition, they are exploring new perspectives through stories that reflect diverse cultures, backgrounds, and identities.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the power of books to shape hearts and minds.
