Too often, supplies beyond the basics are not available in schools, and teachers have to find ways to fund items that make the school year and the curriculum more engaging. It was a huge help to have kind donors who made the supplies possible. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are using the supplies in multiple ways. Surprisingly, they are extremely useful when I am teaching math. Some of my students are math-averse, so I have to find ways to merge their preferred activities with the skills they need to master. This past week, one of my students completed 20 multi-digit addition problems very quickly because he was able to color spots on his page that matched the answers, creating a pretty graphic. He didn't want to do the math, but he was able to find all the special colors he wanted to match the spots that said \"light blue\" and \"sea blue\" for example. He loved it! \r\n\r\nThat is just one of the ways I've used the materials so far. I'm also using them to create anchor charts for my classroom, so they can practice the skills that match their IEP goals. Adding color makes it easier for them to view and be entertained with otherwise academic content. I'm also going to start having them track their own data, as my field is very data-driven. I need to assess students on their progress weekly, and they will be completing colorful graphs with the materials.\r\n\r\nI appreciate your donation very much, and so do my students. You have made their educational experience more special through your involvement.","fullyFundedDate":1760754807110,"projectUrl":"project/color-the-classroom/9691664/","projectTitle":"Color the Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Roth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10245430"},{"teacherId":9140728,"projectId":9471745,"letterContent":"The excitement was instant when my students saw the new supplies! They couldn't believe the shelves were full of fresh paper, pencils, and bright new markers. A few even said, \"It feels like a real classroom now!\" The sensory toys were a huge hit too...they've helped students calm down and refocus when needed.\r\n\r\nWe've already used the new materials for a creative writing and poster project, where students illustrated key themes from our stories. It was amazing to see them take pride in their work and collaborate so enthusiastically. Up next, they'll be using these tools to organize their writing folders and publish their own pieces.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made a huge difference...our classroom feels more vibrant, focused, and full of joy. We also used the art supplies to create personalized Mother's Day crafts, and we will continue to use the supplies in art group for the remainder of the year, ESY, and the following school year I'm sure! We were even able to make editable flashcards for math facts that allow the use of various strategies, and laminated short reading passages with comprehension questions for repeated practice.\r\n\r\nThe kids were so excited when they saw the new materials come in (especially the art supplies)!
