The students have enjoyed reading about science-oriented subjects like the latest astronauts going into space or to the debate of if students in public schools should be required to wear school uniforms. Reading about current events which describe an event that is actually going on in the world helps remedial reading students gain important background knowledge about that particular subject matter. \r\n These wonderful lower level reading materials are of high interest to my high school students and they really like reading them aloud together in a group first and then enjoy discussing them afterwards. Many of these students lack background knowledge in the subject areas of science and social studies so this additional resource is valuable for them to gain more knowledge in a highly interesting way.
