At the beginning of the year, many students bring in supplies such as tissues for their classroom, but the computer lab almost never receives donations such as these. The fall and winter seasons are coming, and the students will soon be coughing and sneezing from allergies and colds. Tissues may seem very basic, but when we run out, it is not fun!\r\n\r\nThe batteries will be used in our robotics activities, which supplement our coding unit and also provide fun and beneficial enrichment activities when our schedule allows for it. The students absolutely love to see robots such as our Code and Go Mice traveling the paths that they have programmed through multiple obstacles! Unfortunately, the batteries used for these robots are not rechargeable, so when the batteries run out, we cannot use them. That is why we are so thankful for generous donors like you.\r\n\r\n As you can see from our photos, our principal loves to participate in our daily news broadcast (which is ENTIRELY run by dedicated fifth graders each day). Her wireless microphone gets a workout (and uses lots of batteries as well). Your donations are being put to good use!\r\n\r\nFinally, the Animal 4D cards can be used in conjunction with ipads for our littlest learners, and I'm including a photo of how interactive these cards are. The students absolutely love them!\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting public education in a time where budget cuts are the norm.","fullyFundedDate":1751231526321,"projectUrl":"project/restocking-the-computer-lab/9434330/","projectTitle":"Restocking the Computer Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Waldron","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp774605_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1525033979489","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/774605"},{"teacherId":4300445,"projectId":8977215,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contributions to my office/ classroom. No words can describe the excitement that the students felt when they saw all the new LEGO sets available to them. They could not wait to dive in. The Minecraft and Star Wars LEGO sets went first! I have had an increase in children needing to work with me and now I have enough LEGO sets for them to have their own to work on.\r\n\r\nI had one student who has been having difficulty following directions in school. He shared with me that he built his first LEGO set from the directions with me. This was something that helped with the conversation that when things get 'tricky,' it is ok to ask for help. Many a times he wanted to quit and but with redirection, he accepted help and persevered. Having Minecraft specific LEGO helped in maintaining this child's attention and interest. I would not have had this set without the support from you. This is a great example of how I am able to use LEGO to assist in building the social and emotional skills needed to help children academically.\r\n\r\nThank you all again for your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1733310364148,"projectUrl":"project/using-legos-for-social-emotional-learnin/8977215/","projectTitle":"Using LEGOs for Social Emotional Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Troiano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4300445_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1487449091095","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/troianob"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44073","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":357,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":68,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.2,"schoolId":44073,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cook Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cook Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/wallingford-public-school-district/cook-hill-elementary-school/44073"}
