When the weather is too cold or rainy to go outside, students can choose from activities such as air hockey, pinball, tabletop football, chess, and jigsaw puzzles. One of our favorite moments this year was seeing a group of students work together on a large puzzle while another group played a friendly game of air hockey. The students were practicing teamwork, communication, patience, and good sportsmanship. The best part.... not one child asked to play a game on their computer!\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw all of the new materials, they were incredibly excited! They could not wait to try everything and immediately started talking about which activities they wanted to play. The tabletop games quickly became some of the most popular choices during indoor recess. It was wonderful to see students who sometimes struggle to find an activity become excited about recess and invite classmates to join them. \r\n\r\nThe next step is to continue building teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through hands-on activities. Students will have opportunities to work together, practice good sportsmanship, and learn how to encourage and support one another.
