As a math specialist, I work with small groups of students across grade levels, and this carpet has already become an essential part of our daily instruction.\r\n\r\nStudents use the carpet as a gathering space for math talks, problem-solving discussions, and hands-on activities. One recent moment that stood out was during a collaborative problem-solving lesson, when students sat together on the carpet to share different strategies and explain their thinking. Having a comfortable, clearly defined space has helped students focus, listen to one another, and feel more confident sharing their ideas.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new carpet, their reaction was immediate excitement. Many commented on how welcoming the space felt, and they were eager to sit together and begin learning. The carpet has helped create a sense of community and belonging, which is especially important for students who may feel less confident in math.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue using this space as we work through multi-step problem-solving tasks, math games, and small-group interventions focused on building conceptual understanding. The carpet allows for flexible grouping and meaningful mathematical conversations that support student growth.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students a space where they feel comfortable, supported, and excited to learn.
