I am so grateful to be able to now purchase new materials for my students using the gift card I was able to buy from your extremely generous donations.\r\n\r\nMany of the activities I use in my classroom are outdated and were created years before I even began teaching. This platform enables me to get more up to date problems and activities for my students, and not have to explain what 2002 was like and pretend that we still purchase text messages by the message on phone plans. By utilizing more updated materials, students are more engaged because it is real to them and their lives. Basic supplies, health and beauty aids, feminine products and many other essentials have enables my students to have access to things that help them learn about personal hygiene. As teenagers, this is so important for them but also by providing them to my students it allows them to \"take what they need\" without feeling embarrassed! \r\n\r\nWe often think providing students with pencils and paper is all that matters but to a teenager that tube of chapstick might just help them feel confident in front of their classmates, that bottle of lotion helps dry skin that could be an embarrassing physical issue. I always believe that fostering a positive relationship with my students is what helps me make those connections, limits my behavioral problems in the classroom and enables me to teach my students, not only math, but life lessons! \r\n\r\nI couldn't do this without the support of very generous donors like Google.org Teen Mental Health Initiati and I am so grateful for support.
