Since we are just learning about the letters in our names, we are practicing literacy skills through various hands on alphabet/letter activities. The tuft tray was a great place to showcase our most recent book \"Chicka Chicka Boom Boom\" and create an activity where students found the letters in their name and built them up their trees. Having this large area allows 3-4 students to engage in this activity and allows the older students to help the younger ones find the letters in their name.\r\n\r\nWe are now able to dedicate a large space with the tuft tray where students can have various sensory experiences in a small group setting which has helped my newer kids to develop their social skills in addition to fine motor and language. The children were so excited to use this area to create a magical world using the Unicorn sensory bin we received.\r\n\r\nAs the year goes on we are so excited to see what other fun sensory experiences we can create with all our wonder sand, scoops, and other tools!!","fullyFundedDate":1747272852339,"projectUrl":"project/lets-imagine-and-play-with-a-tuff-tray/9271648/","projectTitle":"Let's Imagine and Play with a Tuff Tray!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jacki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9456563"},{"teacherId":9401978,"projectId":9280730,"letterContent":"The new resources have already made a huge difference in our preschool classroom! My students are using the supplies every day for hands-on learning—whether it's practicing their letters with fresh crayons and markers, sorting math manipulatives, or creating art projects that show off their imaginations.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching the children's faces light up when we first opened the boxes. They were so excited to have their very own crayons and glue sticks, and several of them said, \"This is mine?\" with huge smiles. It was such a powerful reminder that these simple supplies mean so much.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on a project about \"All About Me.\" The students are using the new paper, markers, and stickers to create posters that show their families, favorite colors, and things they love. These projects help build early literacy, confidence, and classroom community. Next, we'll be using our supplies to dive into a unit on shapes and patterns, where students will cut, glue, and build their own shape collages.\r\n\r\nYour generosity gave us the tools to start our year with excitement and creativity. They had so many great ideas on how to use them and helped set up centers to include our new items. \r\nOne of their favorite items was the new sensory table that also came with a marble run and building bricks. We were beginning our unit on simple machines that week and the kids had so much fun building marble runs that allowed them to test out the idea of an inclined plane.\r\nAnother favorite item was the sensory dough. My students are working on their fine motor skills, and using the dough with other materials we have (scoops, tongs) helps them development their fine motor grasp, which will help them with their pencil grip when trying to write letters.\r\nDuring Valentine's and St. Patrick's Day, the sensory table was used for the holiday themes and we even had parents join us one day to use the new materials with their children.
