We appreciate your support more than words can express. My students and I are honored by your generosity and thoughtfulness. This class began as a \"blank slate,\" filled with a lot of positive energy and excitement. When the children saw the materials flowing into the classroom and started using them for their writing and reading projects, they were so enthusiastic, with large smiles and a classroom voice level of \"YAYS\" all around. Many of them stated that they have never seen this many materials in one class before.\r\n\r\nSince this was a new classroom assignment for me, I came into this new room unprepared for the limited available materials. Many students told me that they didn't want to waste any of the beautiful art-based materials that are now in our classroom. For instance, the colored pencils and crayons allow students to create vibrant murals and pictures for the books they are writing. Art-based learning reaches many of my students; it lowers the stress level of trying and attempting to learn new foundational skills. They have become very protective of the materials and become excited every time they come out for a new project.\r\n\r\nYour generosity humbles me, and I am deeply thankful for your commitment to our class. Your donation purchased an online program, Nearpod, for the use of over seventy English language learners in elementary school. We use this program every day to practice typing, reading, listening, and speaking English. Working on computers helps get students ready for their yearly exam, which is administered through a computer application. But students also enjoy getting to use their computers every day. In particular, students LOVE Nearpod's game mode called Time to Climb. Students get to play this game, which requires them to read carefully and choose the best answer, as a reward every Friday. Additionally, students listen to texts in English and write responses to questions, make drawings, communicate on message boards, drag and drop pictures and words to complete graphic organizers, learn new vocabulary through card games, and record their voices. Nearpod allows students to use one platform to complete all of these crucial learning activities. Students are confident about how to navigate this program so that their focus can be on the content, rather than on other concerns. Students' growth in their scores show the impact of your donation. Thus you experienced the hours spent on preparing and revising curriculum. \r\nPerhaps it was because a family member was also a teacher dedicated to his/her students. And thus you saw firsthand how he/she came home (eventually) from a day's work, often exhausted after either a good day or a bad day or more likely a MIXED day that involved rejoicing over accomplishments and/or despairing about the student that struggles as well as the student that is so difficult to \"reach\". \r\nOr maybe you personally had that special teacher that I try to be... the teacher who sees you, really sees you.
