My goal was to provide new and exciting tools in order for my students to be supported, however also engaged, in the therapeutic activities at school. \r\n\r\nThe clear slant boards are a big hit! They love them! The boards have a little pencil rest which is very exciting. This slant board is simple and does not have any distractions. It provides my students with the proper position for writing, improves their wrist position for an improved pencil grasp, and provides an excellent angle to encourage visual attention and success. \r\n\r\nThe Yuck-E-Medicine balls are so fun! The options are limitless. We use them to play catch and roll them to knock down cones. Some students like to play with them for a sensory break as they also provide the squishy tactile feedback. When students have a difficult time transitioning back to class it's great to use a school \"job.\" This way they are \"helping\" and we also transition back to class smoothly. The weighted Yuck-E-Medicine Balls provide weighted sensory input while completing their job of carrying the ball back to class. Increased participation and the goal is accomplished :)\r\n\r\nIt is very helpful having a variety of sand timers. I love providing quick breaks for students throughout the sessions. Using the timers provides an awesome visual for the student to see how much time they have left of their break or preferred/choice task. It makes transitioning back to work much easier. \r\n\r\nYour generous donation makes a difference in our OT sessions everyday. I appreciate your kindness and am looking forward to using these tools for many years to come. \r\nThank you :)","fullyFundedDate":1737598829043,"projectUrl":"project/handwriting-helpers/8804560/","projectTitle":"Handwriting Helpers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Janice","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7614225_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1646152047561","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7614225"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43444","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":450,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":71,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":68,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":69.3,"schoolId":43444,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hayestown Ave Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hayestown Ave Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/danbury-public-schools/hayestown-ave-elementary-school/43444"}
