Many of the students I work with experience high levels of stress, anxiety, trauma, ADHD symptoms, and emotional dysregulation, so having hands-on coping tools immediately made a difference in our space. Students were especially drawn to the fidgets, stress balls, magnetic toys, and pop-its because they gave them something calming and grounding to use during difficult conversations, group sessions, and moments when emotions felt overwhelming. Several students who normally struggle to stay engaged during sessions were able to remain more focused and regulated while using these supports.\r\n\r\nThe board games have also had a huge impact on building relationships and social-emotional skills. Games like Uno, Battleship, Connect 4, and Trouble have created opportunities for students to practice communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, teamwork, and healthy competition in a low-pressure environment. One of my favorite moments was watching students who are typically quiet or guarded begin laughing, talking, and opening up to peers while playing games together. These activities have helped students build trust and connection while also teaching important coping and interpersonal skills.\r\n\r\nThese resources continue to be used daily in both individual and group settings. My next step is continuing to help students build personalized coping toolboxes and strengthen their emotional regulation skills so they can carry these strategies into their classrooms, relationships, and everyday lives. Thank you for helping create a space where students feel safe, supported, and cared for. Your generosity has made a meaningful impact on the emotional well-being of our students.","fullyFundedDate":1762184063752,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-teens-calming-minds-and-build/9834575/","projectTitle":"Tools for Teens: Calming Minds and Building Connections","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Monroe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10314417_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761419636522","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10314417"},{"teacherId":3497960,"projectId":9808174,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping us get another piccolo to match the one that works in our inventory!
