We are using the new resources during our small-group intervention time to explicitly teach phonemic awareness, phonics, and high-frequency words. One especially meaningful moment happened during a recent lesson when students used modeling clay to form letters and build simple words. As they rolled, shaped, and molded each letter, they said the corresponding sounds aloud and blended them together to read the word. Engaging their hands while activating their visual and auditory skills helped solidify letter formation and sound-symbol connections in a way that paper-and-pencil practice simply cannot.\r\n\r\n When the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate. They were eager to dive in and could hardly wait to begin creating letters and words. Several students who often feel hesitant during reading time were suddenly more willing to participate and take risks. The tactile nature of the modeling clay lowered anxiety and increased engagement, allowing students to feel successful as they practiced foundational skills. It has been incredibly powerful to see their confidence grow alongside their literacy development.\r\n\r\n As we move forward, we will continue using the clay to reinforce phonics patterns, build high-frequency words, and strengthen fine motor skills connected to handwriting. Our next steps include transitioning from forming words with clay to writing those same words and sentences independently, helping students transfer their learning into authentic reading and writing tasks. Because of your support, my students are not only strengthening essential literacy skills, they are building confidence and joy in the learning process. Thank you for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1764732721861,"projectUrl":"project/a-multisensory-intervention-approach-for/9679104/","projectTitle":"A Multisensory Intervention Approach for Primary Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gonzales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9222609_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y73&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754422406917","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9222609"},{"teacherId":2251018,"projectId":9588434,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the notebooks! These notebooks will help build their confidence as readers and give them a special space to see their progress grow. Students use them to record new sight words learned and also to reference previously learned words as they are writing. Students are taking pride in their sight word books, and love to see the number of words grow each week as we fill the pages.
