The High School Band has been using it daily since receiving it with tremendous success and visible growth. This method book is different from the (many) I have used in the past and is unique in it's coverage of a wide array of music performance essentials. Within the scope of just a few pages it manages to cover tone, tuning, articulation, rhythm concepts, music theory, technical etudes, and ensemble chorales. Never have I found a book that is so comprehensive and adaptable for easy use.\r\n\r\nI asked students to write a sentence or two regarding their thoughts on this method and here are some of the answers:\r\n\"I can already tell that this book is making a difference. I enjoy warm-ups a lot more because I feel like I'm actually learning during the warm-up process.\" - Audrey\r\n\"I like the way this warm up book has such a wide variety of exercises and technique for us, and how I have seen first-hand how they have improved our sound as a band.\" - Berit\r\n\"It gives percussion the opportunity to learn about many different instruments, along with getting more practice with instrument you wouldn't normally use in a warm-up routine\" - Katie\r\n\r\nWe are so thrilled with this and are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors.","fullyFundedDate":1730733521464,"projectUrl":"project/band-sound-development-for-a-champions/8578673/","projectTitle":"Band: Sound Development for a Championship Ensemble","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Gregg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9633743_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x140,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723054311593","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9633743"},{"teacherId":9833714,"projectId":8939333,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for taking an interest in my classroom's mission and vision. Because of you, more students are reading and building confidence in their identities as readers. \r\n\r\nWe built confidence by making novels-in-verse a centerpiece of our reading at the end of last semester which we were able to do because of the greater access to Kwame Alexander novels, provided by your support. Students who hadn't finished a novel since their early middle school days flew through novels-in-verse and were able to describe and recall what happened in these texts. \r\n\r\nMany jumped into general fiction novels after that. I gave Neal Shusterman's Unwind--another book I was able to bring into my classroom thanks to you--to one of my notoriously reluctant readers, who after 15 minutes of reading looked at me and said, \"This is actually a pretty good book.\" She's now finished the series. \r\n\r\nThe power of choice cannot be overstated. We know this from study after study, and because of your generosity, my students are able to access and benefit from that power. It may not be every student everywhere, but in my classroom, we are moving closer to a community of lifelong readers.
