We even had a lively discussion as a group to choose the perfect, meaningful quote to display on our new light-up sign, symbolizing our shared learning journey. The hearts' tactile nature, inviting squeezing and holding, offers a calming effect, facilitating a sense of security and grounding during moments of heightened stress or anxiety.\r\n\r\nComplementing the Huggable hearts, the Tic Tac Toe block game serves as a unique conversation starter, encouraging open dialogue and fostering deeper connections. The sheer joy and enthusiasm they display when receiving personalized messages of encouragement and selecting a prize is a testament to the program's success. It's a moment of genuine connection, a spark of motivation that resonates far beyond the classroom walls.\r\n\r\nOur 9th-grade support team, comprised of dedicated teachers and staff, understands the critical importance of this transition year. Graphing calculators are a good way to quickly make these calculations, but many students cannot afford to buy a calculator of their own. The new resources have already made a big difference in how my students learn and participate.\r\nI wanted to highlight one small donation that had a surprisingly large impact—the dry erase markers. My student aide started a \"positive quote of the day\" tradition, using song lyrics and her creativity to design a board outside our classroom. It quickly caught on, and now students from all over the school stop to check out the quotes, with some even snapping pictures. It's been a simple but powerful way to spread positivity and connect with others.\r\n\r\nMy student aide took the initiative to create a \"positive quote of the day\" inspired by popular song lyrics, adding her own creative designs to the board outside our classroom. What started as a small idea has grown into something that reaches beyond our class—students from all over the school stop to read the quotes, and many even take photos to share. This simple act has fostered positivity not just for my students but for others passing through the hallways as well.\r\n\r\nAnother great addition has been the power blocks and charging cables. These have ensured that every student has access to a fully charged iPad, so there's no excuse for not participating in lessons. It's helped us keep things running smoothly and made our classroom more productive and tech-friendly.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students more than just supplies—it's provided opportunities to stay creative, focused, and accountable. I received several different types of supplies, and we have used them all!\r\nFirst, I received styluses for my students to use on their iPads. The students most often use the styluses when we use Nearpod to work on problems together. Student engagement always increases when they can use technology.\r\nI received some new calculators. This is very appreciated since they break down over time and my classroom set needed some replacements. It is really important that students learn how to use traditional calculators, and learn the basic functioning of them including finding the \"shift\" or \"2nd function\" buttons. This will help them in college and the rest of high school.\r\nI received a very cool Geometry poster. I am often asked \"How will I use this in real life\" and the poster provides excellent examples of responses. I believe Geometry has more real-life application than other math classes, even if the students don't agree!!!\r\nPerhaps the most exciting item was the Geometry building kits. These are sets that allow students to build and explore Geometry concepts using hands-on materials. We have already used the kits to discover the \"Triangle Longer Side\" and \"Triangle Larger Angle\" theorems. I can't wait for later in the year when we will build pyramids and prisms. Watching the students problem-solve how to build figures was really fun. It is one thing to look at items on paper, and entirely another thing to build 2 and 3 dimensional figures. I can see all the lightbulbs going off in my students brains.\r\nOnce again, thank you for your support. The Apple Pencil has allowed them to visualize mathematical concepts, solve problems collaboratively, and develop critical thinking skills.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the portable chargers have been a lifesaver for many of my students who may not have reliable access to electricity at home. This has allowed them to stay connected to their education, even when they face challenges outside of the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only equipped my students with essential tools but has also fostered a more inclusive and supportive learning community.
