Our 1st sewing project is underway at the moment. Students were so excited to know that they would be completing their potholder project with the use of the sewing machine. The 2nd project underway is their \"hair ties\" which will be created solely on the machine. One student stated \"Ms. when do we get make our hair ties?\" The response was \"first we have to learn some machine parts and more importantly machine safety.\" He said, \"So will start tomorrow?\" Students have been practicing how to sew the different lines (curves, squares, zig-zags), so they can show that they are ready to complete their first projects. The class is looking at making Halloween napkins since we have some fabric with Halloween print. \r\n The bigger impact is that now we can offer the sewing class every quarter to more students. Initially the class was intended to be offered one quarter, but now we are working on offering it to students every quarter. The number of students impacted will increase more then it was originally planned.\r\nStudents are asking if they create other projects and that has definitely opened up their creativity thinking. \r\n Photos on students working on these projects will be forthcoming. The goal is to make quality projects that the students will be proud of and showcase to their classmates and others.","fullyFundedDate":1747280548054,"projectUrl":"project/the-sewing-must-go-on-/9217310/","projectTitle":"\"The Sewing Must Go on \"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. A, Mondragon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9226485_orig.jpg?crop=2268,2268,x0,y415&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693083768574","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9226485"},{"teacherId":9476810,"projectId":9307041,"letterContent":"The items provided through this project—sharpened pencils, pencil sharpeners, facial tissues, and a classroom calendar—may seem simple, but they had a meaningful and immediate impact on the learning environment and daily experience of young students.\r\nHaving pre-sharpened pencils and individual sharpeners ensured that students could start their work without delays, reducing interruptions during lessons. This helped maintain a smooth classroom flow and kept students focused and engaged throughout the day.\r\nFacial tissues supported a clean and healthy classroom, especially important for young learners who are still developing hygiene habits. Easy access to tissues helped minimize distractions and discomfort, and showed students that their well-being is a priority.\r\n\r\nThe classroom calendar played a key role in establishing structure and routine. It helped students learn about days, months, weather, and special events—key concepts in early childhood education—and fostered a sense of predictability and security.\r\n\r\nTogether, these materials contributed to a more organized, caring, and student-centered classroom. When children see that their space is thoughtfully equipped with the tools they need, they feel valued and respected—laying the foundation for positive attitudes toward learning.\r\n\r\nThis project's support allowed the teacher to focus more on instruction and relationship-building, rather than managing supply shortages, and ultimately helped create a classroom where students could thrive academically and emotionally.","fullyFundedDate":1746739746985,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-welcoming-and-well-equipped-c/9307041/","projectTitle":"Creating a Welcoming and Well-Equipped Classroom for Young Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mae","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9476810_orig.jpg?crop=547,547,x501,y783&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1709247010261","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9476810"},{"teacherId":9476810,"projectId":9056721,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire class, we are grateful for your generous printer donation.
