The woodshop was able to get new handsaws, chisels, ear protection, and new blades for the compound miter saw. Our first class project was for students to build a box with hand tools. Having more handsaws and chisels went a long way in speeding up the waiting process of sharing.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials they were very excited and curious from where they came. Having new sharp blades has alllowed all of them to produce incredible and memorable items that have clean edges, and sharper blades are always safer. My students and I are incredibly grateful for your donation and have had so much fun learning woodworking skills using the tools that were donated.\r\n\r\nOur current project has focused on the students building picture frames and cutting boards. They have been creating glue laminations using donated scraps. When we come back from the Holiday break we are going to begin building the set for the school musical.","fullyFundedDate":1755723786123,"projectUrl":"project/bhs-woodshop-upgrade/9612276/","projectTitle":"BHS Woodshop Upgrade","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Merrill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9247963"},{"teacherId":9801745,"projectId":9868209,"letterContent":"I teach a freshman tutorial class, which begins each period with 20 minutes of reading. At the end of the 20 minutes, I will share some of what I read and then call on students to share what they read. In that class, I have a student who often refuses to do work. When I've called on him, he sometimes refuses or admits that he didn't read during the time. Some of the books that you donated are from the LumberJanes series. This student enjoys those books so much that he is often eager to tell me about what happened when he read. I started this project with that student in mind and I thank you so much for helping continue his love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1762614529430,"projectUrl":"project/creating-readers/9868209/","projectTitle":"Creating Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. I have filled a drawer near the door to my classroom with as many snacks as will fit and my students have already emptied it twice.\r\nMy fifth block (the last block of the day) is filled with freshman boys who are always hungry during class. They know they don't have to ask but can simply grab a snack to help them get through the period.\r\nI also want to thank you because this snack drawer has pushed me to grow my perspective as well. At the start, I stressed about how much the students were eating from the drawer each day. However, since I didn't have to pay for the snacks, I can remind myself that it's okay if students take multiple snacks. I don't have to worry about keeping that drawer filled and they know they can find food when they need it.","fullyFundedDate":1762128593577,"projectUrl":"project/fighting-hunger/9868193/","projectTitle":"Fighting Hunger","teacherDisplayName":"Mx. Your contribution to my classroom will continue to be and currently is making such an impact. I've had so many students utilize the items you've provided for me thus far. It continues to make my space a safe and welcoming environment for all students. I've seen multiple students grab various hygiene items throughout the day. Everyday on students way out of my classroom they are using lotion and hand sanitizer. \r\n\r\nI've had a specific instance where a student with severely chapped lips needed a chapstick and I was able to just place a brand new one in front of them without saying anything. These are moments that show a quiet care that I wouldn't be able to provide without items like this. Another insecurity many students face is smelling bad, I've seen multiple students stop in and grab a deodorant when they need it and it becomes less of a focus for their already challenging days. \r\n\r\nOnce again, your contribution is quite appreciated by both me and all of the students these items are impacting.","fullyFundedDate":1753765933307,"projectUrl":"project/mrs-statzers-sos-bin/9505303/","projectTitle":"Mrs. Statzer’s “SOS” Bin","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Statzer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9236473"},{"teacherId":9801745,"projectId":9710914,"letterContent":"Thank you for your kind donations.
