We've introduced book bins and sturdy book bags, and the positive impact has been immediate and wonderful.\r\n\r\nThe moment the students first saw the new bins was absolutely priceless. Their eyes lit up with excitement as they immediately started exploring the different sections. The students can find their favorite author and keep saying how excited they are that they are all together. Which they always have been, but it just shows what a difference the bins make. Our student volunteers have also taken so much pride in the new system, which has given them a more organized way to participate and take ownership of the library.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting the new resources to great use. This month, we're focusing on our author study of Kevin Henkes, and the new bins make it so easy to display his books prominently. The students are excitedly finding his titles and checking out multiple books. We're also using the new book bags for our reading groups, which has streamlined the process of getting books for our lessons and has given us more time to focus on our discussions. The kids are LOVING the new games. When playing games, they forget that they are actually working on important communication skills. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! You have helped bring joy to kids who need it most. Most of my students struggle financially and academically. I wish you could see the face of the little non-verbal boy when bees fall from the tree in the Honeybee Tree game. He tries so hard to say bees and leaves and my turn when we play. The Greedy Granny game causes squeals of excitement every time she wakes up. Between turns, we practice our speech goals. It is so much fun! Students appreciate the sensory tools that help them maintain focus, which allows them to fidget. The sensory tools help students by providing a discreet way to channel excess energy and restlessness. These tools help students with anxiety and sensory processing issues to help focus on their work. They provide tactile stimulation and help them to self-regulate through movement without disrupting others in the classroom. The flexible seating allows students to choose the seating option that best suits their learning styles and comfort level. This can help increase focus and concentration in the classroom. Flexible seating helps students who need to fidget or move around in order to focus on a task. I have students who consistently use the sensory tools and flexible seating while working on a task. The students have more success when they are able to fidget and move around. These tools support diverse learning styles, which promotes a positive learning environment. \r\n\tWhen the students first saw the materials, they were excited to have options that would help support their diverse learning needs. The students enjoy \"playing\" with the sensory tools, but find comfort in knowing that they can use them to self-regulate without disrupting the whole class. The students love using the \"egg\" shaped floor seats as an alternative option to the traditional chair. Students are still able to focus on the task, but feel more comfortable seating in a different seat. \r\n\tThe next step for the students is to continue to offer and let them use the sensory toys and flexible seating. The students have more success by allowing them to move and fidget while working on assignments. Providing students with the materials they need in order to be successful, has helped keep the students engaged and focused.
