Students have navigated routines in which they know which crates to use for gathering materials that are brought to their table groups as well as lab materials that they bring to the group. Furthermore, by having small crates that contain lab materials, not only does this increase organization, but promotes safety in the movement of materials, and have contributed to ease of movement between classrooms as a cart teacher and even from teacher to teacher. The collaboration has not only occurred between students but also amongst educators as we collaborate to setup station rotations with the use of the materials.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, materials were used to support the development of models which have supported students growth mindset in regards to science engineering practices and crosscutting concepts. Students have successfully developed models while at the same time being able to assess the accuracy and the limitations of the models they have created. With the support made possible through the materials available for modeling, students were able to address areas that needed revision after receiving timely feedback, something that is not always possible if","fullyFundedDate":1723165638717,"projectUrl":"project/setting-students-for-successful-collabor/8567737/","projectTitle":"Setting Students for Successful Collaboration Practices","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Yajaira Fuentes-Tauber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9223389_orig.jpg?crop=320,320,x0,y40&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693191299391","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9223389"},{"teacherId":9240280,"projectId":8632428,"letterContent":"The books donated are for 9th graders in Teen Choices to explore substance abuse disorder. Every class begins with reading, and students are able to select books they want to read. This project allowed me to provide books that they'll be interested in and will finish! It's crazy how many of my students haven't finished a book in several years. \r\n\r\nTo introduce these books in a fun way, I did a book sampling activity with my students. Each student chose a book, spent 2 minutes figuring out what the book is about, and then reflected on if that's a book they'd want to read; we repeated the process until they engaged with 5 different books. Throughout the activity, I kept hearing students say things like \"This book is actually interesting!\", \"This book is set where my mom is from!\" and \"How many books can I check out from you?\" \r\n\r\nAt some point, students lost their love of reading, and this project is helping them find that interest again.","fullyFundedDate":1719007516927,"projectUrl":"project/books-for-teens/8357176/","projectTitle":"Books for Teens","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wilson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9249307"},{"teacherId":9633360,"projectId":8577419,"letterContent":"My students had a very successful semester using their journals to explore ideas in our class and share their thoughts and reflections. Overgrown trees were trimmed with the lopper, native grass seed spread across the newly uncovered soil, and designs for repainted garden beds are currently in development. In just four months time, we've reset the garden significantly. Years ago, I painted the tops of my tables so they would be whiteboards that my students could write on. This has been a game changer for labs, brainstorming, and check-ins. But whenever my students tried to erase whiteboard marker with their hands, it would smear and stain the tables, leaving layers of work behind to the point where students in other classes could see what had been written before. Now, we use the hook magnets to hang the black microfiber cloths that were also funded by this project, and they erase the marker perfectly. Students are in the habit of fully cleaning up their work and returning the eraser to a consistent spot means that other classes know exactly where to find what they need to clean up too.\r\n\r\nThis is just one example of a routine that I've been able to establish with students that helps keep the room organized. The pencil organizer has helped students quickly find the colors they need for activities, the command strips hold up our cell phone parking lot, the timers keep us all on task, and the planting supplies keep soil from spilling all over the classroom during gardening lessons. Thanks to you, my classroom is running smoother than ever, and I'm excited to see what new messy adventures my students and I can have in the pursuit of understanding our amazing world.","fullyFundedDate":1723500002473,"projectUrl":"project/let-science-be-messy-but-keep-my-class/8549698/","projectTitle":"Let Science Be Messy - But Keep My Classroom Clean!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. M","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9240870_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693871903755","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-m-science"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42473","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2044,"numTeachers":98,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":69.4,"schoolId":42473,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rocky Mountain High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rocky Mountain High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/poudre-school-district/rocky-mountain-high-school/42473"}
