In a packed school day it can be a challenge to engage my students with fun and interesting activities. There are only so many worksheets you can print before a student loses interest. Your donation provided me with a variety of materials that kept them excited to come to the speech room!\r\n\r\nOf course the biggest draw was the games you sent! My students enjoyed endless rounds of Uno and Don't break the Ice, while also learning about prepositions and balance with Don't Rock the Boat! From Pre-K to 5th graders they would all ask to play the games, and they were talking throughout. I got so much language production from them as they commented, requested, and described how to play the game. They never cease to amaze me with their insights into games they have played even 10 times!\r\n\r\nGetting kids to talk can be tough, especially if it is not their area of strength. But with the materials you provided it was never difficult to get them engaged and speaking. They loved to show their mastery of the games and materials and grew throughout the year because of what you gave them. They love to \"work\" for games, sometimes not realizing that the games we play are also impacting their skills and education :) The \"Klask\" game is a fan favorite, which is a 2 person tabletop air hockey/foosball game using magnets and a small ball. This game helps build rapport with students, incentivize them to come to therapy, but also helps with fine motor and visual perceptual skills including dexterity, grasp, tracking, motor planning, and speed. The \"bowling set\" is also a fun game for students that works on hand-eye coordination, balance, and grading of movements. In addition, the \"Foil Fun\" craft is unique and incorporates use of fine motor skill, sequencing, and provides visual sensory input with bright and shiny colors. \r\n\r\nThank you again for helping my students by making learning/occupational therapy fun!!!!","fullyFundedDate":1723663594057,"projectUrl":"project/making-learning-fun/8630964/","projectTitle":"Making Learning Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sosa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6263757_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596569243265","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6263757"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42472","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":443,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":74,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":58.5,"schoolId":42472,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Riffenburgh 1B World Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Riffenburgh 1B World Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/poudre-school-district/riffenburgh-elementary-school/42472"}
