Your generosity has had an immediate and meaningful impact on my students' learning, communication, and overall classroom experience. Many of my students are learners with disabilities who benefit greatly from visual supports, hands-on materials, and immediate feedback. Because of you, we are now able to provide these supports in a more effective, personalized, and timely way.\r\n\r\nThe materials funded through this project are being used daily in our classroom. I am creating and printing high-quality colored visuals using a standard printer, a photo printer, an instant photo pocket printer, photo paper, and guided reading strips. These visuals are connected to the VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program) and are designed to support communication, language development, and early literacy skills. Each image is clearly labeled with a word or phrase, allowing students to connect visuals with printed language while building vocabulary and reading skills.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for my students is the instant photo pocket printer. This tool allows me to print visuals immediately—right at the moment a student needs support. Whether a student is struggling to communicate a need, understand an instruction, or follow a routine, I can create a visual on the spot and use it as a prompt. This real-time access has made interventions more effective and has helped reduce frustration for students who need immediate clarification or communication support.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this new technology. Students with language delays are more confident using picture supports to express themselves, while other students are more engaged and focused when visuals are incorporated into lessons. The guided reading strips and visual overlays have also helped students track text more effectively, improving attention, reading accuracy, and participation during literacy activities. These tools have made learning more accessible and less overwhelming for students who struggle with processing information.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, this project has positively impacted our classroom environment. Students feel more successful when they can understand expectations and communicate clearly, which has led to improved behavior, stronger engagement, and increased independence. Your support has helped create a classroom that is inclusive, responsive, and supportive of all learners, especially those from low-income and historically underfunded backgrounds.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and for investing in tools that help them learn, communicate, and grow with confidence. Your generosity truly makes a difference every day in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWith gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1757947560596,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-classroom-communication-throug/9702956/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Classroom Communication Through Real-Time Visual Supports","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Garapan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9233962_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698523468221","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9233962"},{"teacherId":3648281,"projectId":9281720,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your generous donation to my gratitude project. Before I explain how I used the materials, I want to tell you a little bit about my class. It's one unlike you've ever heard of before...how do I know this? Because I created it! It's called Student Leadership, but it's not the typical SL one might think of with class representatives, education about government, and raising and lowering our American Flag. This class is all about character traits and how to be a better person. In there I get to teach kids about integrity, something I call the Mama Trait, because all other traits are a part of it. We also focus on many other character traits, such as effort, respect, responsibility, kindness, patience, and loyalty, just to name a few; but there are three main focal points: integrity, empathy, and gratitude. That last one is where your donation comes into play.\r\n\r\nThere are two really important benefits to kids writing thank you notes, and that's why I incorporate them into my curriculum. One is that it teaches kids the world is more than just about them. We need to acknowledge \r\nothers for what they do and how they contribute to the world. Secondly, research shows that gratitude literally makes us happier. Thinking about the people and things in our lives to be grateful for can't help but make us feel good.\r\n\r\nI usually include a Thank You Notes Station as part of our Centers Day, and the kids absolutely love it! I give them ideas of people they could write to and a list of sentence starters to help them if they need it. I provide a ton of different kids of cards, stickers, and pens (thanks to you!). They are always so eager to get started, and I can't tell you how many times kids have asked if they can make another one or if they can take one with them to finish later. They truly enjoy this, so I try to do it at least three times a quarter (I get new students each quarter).\r\n\r\nMy gratitude for you has certainly made me happier, and I hope reading how your donation makes a difference in my classroom will bring a smile to your face as well.","fullyFundedDate":1747069877072,"projectUrl":"project/expressing-gratitude/9281720/","projectTitle":"Expressing Gratitude","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bauer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3648281_orig.jpg?crop=900,900,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693064941763","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3648281"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43090","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":749,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":30.0,"schoolId":43090,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fort Morgan Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fort Morgan Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/morgan-co-school-district-re-3/ft-morgan-middle-school/43090"}
