I ask them why and they say that they feel more comfortable sitting on the rug and it helps them focus. Kindergarteners absolutely love practicing writing letters and words in the art trays with kidfetti. Correct letter formation is so valuable and having the option to practice that in a variety of ways makes this task fun for my students. \r\n The magnetic letters and boards, as well as the orthographic mapping paddles have mostly been utilized with 1st and 2nd graders. The magnetic letters have been used for identifying the letter that matches a given sound, or locating the letter when given the letter name. They are also used for making words. For example, the students make a word, then change the beginning, ending, or middle/vowel to make a new word. They LOVE using the paddles and ask for them all the time! Being able to move the magnetic counters to segment the sounds of a word before moving them again to write each sound has been a great tool. Manipulating letters and sounds to create words is so important for struggling readers to master. Having tangible items to use for this process helps in that learning and they feel like it's a game instead of work.\r\n Understanding number sense, which includes place value, has been a key teaching point for math intervention groups. Being able to use the place value chart with place value manipulatives, and the bonus of being able to write the numbers with dry erase markers directly on the charts, has been so eye opening for these kids. It has brought an understanding of place value to many of my students who were struggling with that. \r\n The variety of fidgets for calming and/or focusing needs has been beneficial. The social-emotional well-being of our students must be met before learning can occur. Often finding the right fidget for each student is all they need to be able to focus on the task at hand. \r\n I know thank you is not enough to truly describe how grateful we are to have received these multisensory \"tools\" to help us learn and grow in literacy and math.","fullyFundedDate":1727462624308,"projectUrl":"project/multisensory-magic/8574806/","projectTitle":"Multisensory Magic","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Skrdlant","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9297906"},{"teacherId":7266820,"projectId":8574203,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, our classroom has been transformed!
