Your contribution brought more than just materials into our classroom—it brought excitement, curiosity, and hands-on opportunities that have made science come alive for my students.\r\n\r\nThe day the supplies arrived, my students were buzzing with excitement. We had just started a lesson on forces and motion, and when they saw the ramps, magnets, batteries, and measuring tools, their imaginations took off. These weren't just abstract ideas anymore—they could experiment, build, and truly engage with the concepts.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really stood out was when a small group worked on testing how the angle of a ramp affects acceleration. They were fully engaged—measuring, timing, adjusting—and one student who's usually shy suddenly said, \"I think I figured out the pattern\" And he was right. That spark of discovery and confidence is exactly what I hope for as a science teacher.\r\n\r\nRight now, students are using the materials for an engineering design project. They are building water filters and wind-powered vehicles to solve real-world problems. They're learning to test their ideas, make improvements, and present their work with pride. Most importantly, they are seeing themselves as scientists and problem solvers.\r\n\r\nNext, they will reflect on what they learned and how they can improve their designs. These critical thinking skills are powerful and will serve them far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour kindness made all this possible. Thank you for investing in my students and helping me create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences they'll never forget.","fullyFundedDate":1695471282703,"projectUrl":"project/beyond-learning-exploring-science-at-it/7866991/","projectTitle":"Beyond Learning: Exploring Science at Its Best!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Calvadores","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9218624_orig.jpg?crop=600,600,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692995960275","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9218624"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43333","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":107,"numTeachers":8,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":43333,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Julesburg Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Julesburg Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/julesburg-school-dist-re-1/julesburg-junior-senior-high-school/43333"}
