Thanks to your contributions, we've been able to purchase a much-needed speaker and create a more dynamic and engaging learning environment with a new flexible seating option. Your kindness has made a tangible difference in the lives of my students, and I want to take this opportunity to share with you the impact of your gift.\r\nThe new speaker has also enriched our classroom culture in ways we hadn't fully anticipated. One of the most significant benefits has been the ability to incorporate music into our daily routine. We've discovered that playing calming instrumental music or even upbeat, educational songs during work time significantly improves the classroom atmosphere. It helps students focus, reduces anxiety, and creates a more relaxed and positive learning environment. It also provides a subtle background hum that helps to minimize distractions and create a more productive workspace. \r\nYour generosity also extended to the purchase of a flexible seating option, which has been truly transformative. Traditional seating limited movement and collaboration. This flexibility allows students to choose the seating arrangement that best suits their individual learning styles and preferences. The new cushion was a nice addition. \r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, I extend my sincerest gratitude for your generous support.","fullyFundedDate":1731948754049,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating/8582168/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Linkenauger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3667051_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1470259897588","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/linkenauger5"},{"teacherId":9258022,"projectId":8577609,"letterContent":"In my classroom, we've been incorporating the new resources in a variety of creative and engaging ways. For a recent project, we used the brightly colored card stock to find the area of \"mosaic\" tiles and make our very own pictures. From this students were able to use what we are learning in math and practice with measuring the length and width of squares to create our own area models. It was fantastic to watch the students' different ideas come to life. This hands-on approach sparked a lot of enthusiasm, as students could immediately see the importance that math has on the real world when it comes to designing, making the learning process feel more real and immersive.\r\nWhen my students first entered the room to see new bookshelves that were not crooked and falling apart it took them a minute to realize what was new. One student excitedly exclaimed, \"all the shelves match!\" This made others intrigued and they loved how their books were now able to be displayed for easy access. I loved that they wanted to organize the books and rank them with their favorites. Students decided that with our new book ends we could pick a few books a month to display at the top of the shelves to show that they were highly recommended reads.\r\nThe next steps for my students in organizing our new reading books will focus on categorizing the books based on themes, genres, and reading levels to create a more accessible and engaging library. Each student will be assigned a group of books to categorize, and they will work together to decide the best way to sort them, whether it's by fiction vs. nonfiction, subject matter (e.g., adventure, mystery, science), or other relevant categories. Afterward, students will be tasked with reflecting on and sharing what they've read with the class. They will create short book reviews or presentations to share with their peers, highlighting key takeaways, interesting characters, or memorable moments. This process will help students develop critical thinking and organizational skills while encouraging them to engage in meaningful discussions about the books they've read, fostering a love for reading and promoting literacy across the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1727462914764,"projectUrl":"project/creative-and-clean-classroom/8577609/","projectTitle":"Creative and Clean Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bistram","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9258022_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695918656155","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9258022"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41906","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":346,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":9,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":46,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.0,"schoolId":41906,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Patterson International Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Patterson International Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/jefferson-county-school-district-r-1/patterson-int-l-elementary-school/41906"}
