Their reactions were full of surprise and excitement—many of them couldn't believe these items were just for them. The sunglasses, in particular, were a big hit. Several students immediately put them on and started striking playful poses, grinning from ear to ear. It was heartwarming to see such joy over something so simple yet meaningful.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the new books during our daily reading block, and they've added fresh energy to the classroom. One student started a mini book club with her friends to talk about a story they all loved. The sunglasses even made it into our writing time—we did a fun creative writing prompt where students imagined they were secret agents or movie stars thanks to their new shades. The snacks have been a steady comfort, especially during long afternoons. These donations created more than just moments of happiness—they've sparked creativity, focus, and a stronger sense of community in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1741703770127,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-and-good-reads/9143269/","projectTitle":"Snacks and Good Reads!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Masterman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8650497_orig.jpg?crop=541,541,x0,y221&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741633639050","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8650497"},{"teacherId":8568616,"projectId":8844009,"letterContent":"My students have read so many books since we received these books. My students are enjoying books and want to read. As we go into the summer, many of my students have asked where to get the next books this summer. I'm excited to see what my students next year doo with these books. Students have taken books home, on field trips, and even read when they could be playing games. When my students are interested in what they are read, they will want to read. Thank you so much for providing a love of reading to my students.","fullyFundedDate":1735704300589,"projectUrl":"project/higher-level-books-for-high-readers/8844009/","projectTitle":"Higher Level Books for High Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schmelzer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8568616_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1659987055083","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8568616"},{"teacherId":8568616,"projectId":8574809,"letterContent":"These supplies helped us create some amazing thing for Christmas and help keep our classroom running smoothly. The excitement when they saw all the supplies come in made me so happy. We made snowman to decorate our lockers and we also made ornaments for our parents. The whiteboard markers have helped with the constant need for one while we do math. The tissues have help during cold and flu season this year. We haven't dug into all the markers yet but I have plans for some awesome posters for social studies and science. As part of our unit on government in the United States, they worked to establish a school government by drafting a preamble, seven articles, and a bill of rights tailored to their needs and wants.\r\n\r\nMy students were thrilled to receive new resources for our classroom and were especially excited about the painting activity, which they described as fun, exciting, and calming. Through this project, they not only deepened their understanding of the Constitution but also applied their knowledge in a meaningful way by designing a governing structure for their school.\r\n\r\nNow that they have completed their constitutions, students will present their work and transition into learning about citizenship and political parties in the United States. They will discuss the role of political participation in shaping the government and continue exploring how amendments impact citizens.","fullyFundedDate":1727462752131,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-constitution-in-a-fun-clean/8567147/","projectTitle":"Creating a Constitution in a Fun, Clean, and Comfortable Way!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Juki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9630472"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43122","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":397,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":72,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":61.7,"schoolId":43122,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about La Junta Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"La Junta Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/east-otero-school-district-r-1/la-junta-intermediate-school/43122"}
