The addition of the snap circuit kits and coding robots to our classroom has had a huge impact. I have watched my students collaborate, problem solve, and get hands-on with technology in ways that they wouldn't be able to do without these new tools.\r\n\r\nOur students spend a lot of time on screens. They are definitely familiar with and surrounded by technology. But the technology that they see day-to-day is very limited, very scripted, and very specific to the needs and wants of the school district. We are also limited in the time that we have for kids to really get hands-on and explore.\r\n\r\nThese new tools that were donated to our class allow my students to really engage with and explore science and technology. Coding is such a fantastic way to teach kids to problem solve. They write a code, they try to get it to work, and when it doesn't, they have to figure out why. The deep thinking, the conversations, and the persistence that the kids have to use when solving these problems and working through these codes with their robots is growing their brains in ways that our regular curriculum can't do. Same with the circuits. I love watching these kids puzzle through a circuit that's not working. It's one thing to read about it, we can even watch videos, but to do it with our own hands is so much more impactful.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are using these materials a few times a week during our explore time. I am working on weaving them into our literacy blocks and our math blocks to really make sure that they are used to their fullest potential. \r\n\r\nI'm seeing these kids engage with each other and with technology in ways that they couldn't before. I am so thankful.","fullyFundedDate":1757959729179,"projectUrl":"project/coding-and-circuits-for-5th-graders/9549389/","projectTitle":"Coding and Circuits for 5th Graders!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dougherty","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10074095"},{"teacherId":9250207,"projectId":8571263,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our 3rd grade classroom! Our new stools have been a game-changer, as I can now quickly and easily pull small groups without worrying about where my students will be sitting (and if their stool is going to break!).\r\n\r\nUsing a standing desk has also been so helpful for my day-to-day use in the classroom. It allows me to quickly model work on the board while facing my students. The small footprint of the disk has also given us more room to work.
