As the Spanish-language novels started to trickle into the library, and the computer lab's mice and mouse pads were replaced, the students took notice. Because of your generosity the school library and computer lab have transformed into a more inclusive and functional space. \r\n\r\nMany of our Spanish speaking students are facing incredible challenges and emotional hardships with the current events and learning all of their subject matter in a second language. Being able to be transported into a novel in one's native language can have a significant impact. Not only are they able to escape into a story when the world feels heavy, they also have their language and culture validated and shown they are a valued student and member of society. \r\n\r\nIn the computer lab, new mice and mouse pads have opened accessibility for all of our students. Struggling with broken and aging equipment turned simple tasks into frustrating ones. Now they are able to focus completely on their classwork and creativity without dealing with the tech friction that used to slow them down.\r\n\r\nPlease know that your contribution reached the hands and hearts of students who truly needed to know that someone out there is rooting for them. The tools that your donation made possible have allowed students to better interact and engage with content in class.\r\n\r\nFor example, access to the class set of calculators has been key for working on lab data analysis. Our school works to enforce a no cell phone policy in the classroom. Therefore, students lack access to the calculator function of their phones. Our class set of calculators have made all the difference!\r\n\r\nAlso, our new fidget toys are an easily accessible way for any student to increase focus and engagement.
