When | found out the you approved funds for these items, | was very happy.\r\nThe major purchases were for 4 bean bag chairs for the area in my classroom that we used for a\r\n\"chill zone\". Students earn their time in the chill zone by completing all their work throughout the\r\nweek, so on Fridays, we have our \"Fab Friday\" time. Students get to relax and refresh and this\r\nis key to motivate my students that struggle with disabilities. The bean bag chairs were a huge\r\nsuccess.\r\n| also asked for tools that | use in my classes, such as headphones. My students often use\r\nheadphones during independent work to keep them focused. Some use the headphones to\r\nlisten to music, while others use the headphones to cancel out background noise. Having the\r\nheadphones available has helped my students with their focus issues and they enjoy having\r\nthem available.\r\nSome of the other items have enhanced my classroom experience. Many of the paper\r\nresources | laminate to preserve them so they don't get destroyed in one use. Kids tend to roll,\r\nbend, fold, or tear paper, so the laminating sheets purchased were very helpful. The\r\nmiscellaneous items, such as the highlighters are used every day for my math students to\r\nidentify key information. The math dice game is another resource for my students to support\r\ncritical thinking skills.\r\n| selected all the products with a purpose, even though they all seem disconnected. Why would\r\nmiddle school students need Play Doh or stickers, well there is often a need to make a\r\nconnection, so | do this with the fun items.\r\nAgain, | thank you, Governor, for your generosity, not only to me, but to my colleagues and other\r\nteachers around the state.","fullyFundedDate":1723000150310,"projectUrl":"project/special-education-resources-for-learnin/8487669/","projectTitle":"Special Education Resources for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harlow","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9307080_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695873351996","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9307080"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56018","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":558,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":22,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.4,"schoolId":56018,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cresthill Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cresthill Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/douglas-county-school-district-re-1/cresthill-middle-school/56018"}
