You have no idea how much of an impact this made on my Music Exploration class! They were so excited to be the very first class to use this particular type of technology that tied in music and science! They didn't even realize they were learning AND having fun simultaneously! That is one of my favorite ways for students to learn!\r\n\r\nAnother great factor (which was unintended) was that their 6th grade science teachers are currently going over thermal energy and how energy travels in their current unit, so we were able to make those connections back into my music room when discussing the difference between items considered a conductor vs insulator. Knowing that distinct difference is essential to learning how the Makey Makeys function to begin with. I am so thrilled that we were able to provide them with this type of experience, and I look forward to utilizing this unit for years to come. Not all students may choose to be in a performing ensemble to be a part of music, but it's evident how providing unique music-making opportunities is for everyone.","fullyFundedDate":1760693721852,"projectUrl":"project/help-bring-steam-into-music-exploration/9593405/","projectTitle":"Help Bring STEAM into Music Exploration Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Castillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bandrc"},{"teacherId":9629653,"projectId":8563603,"letterContent":"Thank you, my students have been given more opportunities to experience authentic learning in my science classroom. Anyone can learn but when they become excited about science, anyone can be empowered to learn more. My favorite impact from this was, students researching about a disease or illness that is interesting to them. One decided to research about depression and was so engaged in learning the history and how much has changed in just the last 10 years. \r\n\r\nMany thanks and appreciation for these supplies.","fullyFundedDate":1723142352930,"projectUrl":"project/for-interactive-science-classroom-suppli/8563603/","projectTitle":"For Interactive Science Classroom Supplies and Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schneider","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9629653_orig.jpg?crop=1511,1511,x0,y307&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722982249718","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9629653"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41764","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":600,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":41764,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Holmes Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Holmes Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/colorado-springs-school-district-11/holmes-middle-school/41764"}
