With classes of 28, this becomes very important! Students also use the mallets to help them compose.\r\n\r\nOur rug is also a welcome addition to class. Our small garden has brought our students together as a team and offered them a chance to demonstrate their hard work. These incredible things have happened because of you!\r\nMore than half of the 5th grade class has come out to help in the garden. What started out as a small, dedicated group grew to more students than I had jobs for! The sign up sheet was filled every day. It is a beautiful thing to foster the teamwork that has occurred with the Plant Positivity Project.\r\nWhen this project got started, I embarrassingly underestimated the amount of work that needed to be done to make this dream a reality. Despite that, the kids were not scared off. From designing the garden, choosing plants and shrubs, shoveling and moving rock and dirt, to sifting dirt from the rock piles, to digging holes, pouring and spreading potting soil and mulch~these kids have given their hearts, time and energy into every step. Until the snow came, they enjoyed watching their hard work slowly become a thing of beauty. \r\nOur immediate next steps are to continue to tend to the garden. Although I love the winter, I look forward to witnessing the excitement from the students when they see our bulbs first poke out of the ground, then bloom into flowers and cheer for our established plants to return to their early fall glory. They ask every day when it will be time to start working outside again. At that time, we will need to plant a few more plants to fill some empty spaces. \r\nThank you for giving my students something positive to be a part of! When we have a community member sit on the bench next to our garden to enjoy it and see the joy in our students, the hard work is well worth it!","fullyFundedDate":1726115133941,"projectUrl":"project/plant-positivity-project/8714612/","projectTitle":"Plant Positivity Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schauer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9240948"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_41751","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":267,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":56,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"16.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":28.1,"schoolId":41751,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Bristol Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Bristol Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/colorado-springs-school-district-11/bristol-elementary-school/41751"}
