These donations have made a very positive impact on my students and their learning journey. \r\n\r\nLiteracy growth has been a major area of focus this school year. By providing decodable books, readers are able to learn and apply different phonics skills, such as CVC words and long vowel sounds. Also, the new books for my classroom better represent my student's backgrounds and help them feel more connected to books that we read. The Magical Yet has quickly become a classroom favorite.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, emotional regulation has been a new skill set we have been working on. Thanks to your kindness, I've been able to provide my PreK-5 students at Meadow Point Elementary with essential materials that are having a lasting, positive impact on their communication skills. I'm excited to share just how much these resources have helped my students grow.\r\nThe folders and stickers you provided have become key motivators in our therapy sessions. For many students, tracking progress visually is a game-changer. They are excited to place a sticker on their progress chart or organize their work into their folders, which helps them feel accomplished and encouraged to continue working hard. These simple, tangible rewards have built a sense of pride and persistence in each of my students.\r\nThe Melissa & Doug Wooden Slice & Stack Sandwich Counter with Deli Slicer has been a huge hit! It's not only fun, but it has also supported critical skills like following directions, categorization, and social interaction. I've seen my students light up as they work together to create \"sandwiches,\" and it's been amazing to watch their communication skills blossom during these playful, hands-on activities. One of my students, who has a difficult time focusing, now participates eagerly in the activity, following each direction step by step. It's moments like these that make therapy so rewarding.\r\nThe sensory tools, including fidgets and other motivational items, have also been a game changer for students who need additional support to stay engaged. These items have helped several of my students focus and regulate their emotions during therapy, making it possible for them to stay more present and engaged. I've seen these students become more confident in their ability to participate, and the sensory tools have empowered them to manage their attention and emotions more effectively.\r\nThe binders and notecard organizer have greatly improved my ability to stay organized and track each student's progress. Having everything neatly organized allows me to focus more on the individual needs of my students, tailor therapy sessions accordingly, and ensure every student gets the personalized attention they need.\r\nPerhaps most excitingly, the children's books you helped fund have been a fantastic addition to our therapy sessions. These books are perfect for building vocabulary, understanding complex concepts, and improving listening and comprehension skills. The students have especially enjoyed stories that incorporate humor or relatable characters, which has sparked so many wonderful conversations. One of the books I introduced, Chez Bob, has become a favorite, and we've been using it to practice cause and effect, answering perspective questions, and making predictions. For some students, these books have become a bridge to social interaction—helping them express their thoughts, share their ideas, and connect with their peers. For others, the books have been a wonderful resource for working on articulation and fluency.\r\nThe combination of these materials has made a profound difference in my students' communication skills. Every day, I see their confidence growing as they develop important social and academic skills. One student who was initially very shy now eagerly raises his hand during group activities to share what he's learned from our stories. Another student, who had difficulty following directions, now uses the visual aids and sensory tools to stay on track and complete tasks successfully. These small victories are a direct result of your support, and they mean the world to me.\r\nThank you for making these moments of growth possible. Your generosity has not only provided critical materials but has also helped create an environment where my students can thrive—where they feel supported, motivated, and excited to learn. I can't express enough how much of a difference your contribution has made in their lives.\r\nWith heartfelt appreciation,\r\nKatherine Young\r\nSpeech-Language Pathologist\r\nMeadow Point Elementary School","fullyFundedDate":1727462608518,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-little-learners-essential-to/8574976/","projectTitle":"Empowering Little Learners: Essential Tools for Speech and Language Development","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Young","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9294096"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_49524","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":402,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.9,"schoolId":49524,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Meadow Point Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Meadow Point Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/cherry-creek-school-district-5/meadow-point-elementary-school/49524"}
