Many of my students rarely finish a novel and these books help them successfully read and understand a novel. We finished our first round of studies last year and are just getting started this year. This year I am working on how to incorporate reading skills, grammar, and fluency into our study to increase their interest in these areas. My classroom library was in need of more books at different levels. Many of my students read below grade level and my classroom library did not have books that work for them. Several of the new books are of high interest at a lower reading level, so this helps me get them into reading. \r\n\r\nThe book \"The Magic Misfits\" was specifically requested by a student. I couldn't find it in any library for her to read. She was very excited when the book arrived. \r\n\r\nAnother student isn't particularly fond of reading but he will read historical/war related books. I added \"The War that Saved My Life\" to this project, and he was really excited for this book. He is currently working through this book. \r\n\r\nSeveral of the books are wordless picture books. These will be used for a writing project. My students who love to create will get to write their own words for these stories. \r\n\r\nHaving books my students are interested in help me create readers.
