With your help we were able to purchase two bass guitars, amps, and cords that are the correct size for our growing students. Students were so excited to see our new guitars! They always ask to play the electric instruments and find so much joy in trying new things. \r\n\r\nWith your donation we brought our total number of bass guitars to three. This allows for students to have more turns and more time to spend learning the instrument. It also will allow us to build up our Modern Band ensembles. The bass part of the song is crucial to keeping everyone together and adding texture to our performances. As we learn more skills on all of our instruments, we will be able to form real bands that are capable of playing any song that they are interested in. \r\n\r\nWithout your help we could not have completed our ensemble. First we read the texts, both chorally and independently, highlighting key/unfamiliar vocabulary while tracking our comprehension by taking notes and participating in meaningful discourse. \r\n Next, we decided how we would exhibit our understanding of the texts' central ideas and themes. Some students decided to write historically and geographically correct realistic- fiction journals about their pseudo journey from slavery to freedom. Other students decided to show their understanding by producing a visual art piece. One student even decided to create an antique-looking map, outlining all of the actual 'safehouses' in the states he stayed in along his escape route to freedom.\r\n Finally, we took our group picture and the students displayed their incredible work in the hallways of Dartmouth Elementary. \r\n I am overjoyed at how much learning and discovery took place while we completed this project. Thanks to your contribution, my students have received invaluable resources that are making a remarkable difference in their learning and development.\r\n\r\nThe new materials have had an immediate positive impact on their language growth. The category sorting toys have been especially helpful, enriching their vocabulary and encouraging them to make connections between words. It's been such a joy to see their language skills flourish as they engage with these resources.\r\n\r\nThe fidget toys have been a game-changer in helping my students regulate their emotions and focus during lessons. They love using them, and it's incredible to see how they contribute to a more productive and calm learning environment.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the ice cream toy has been a wonderful tool in our play-based therapy sessions. It has sparked creativity and conversation, making therapy not only effective but also fun and engaging for the students.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has made a lasting impact on my students' educational journey, and I am so thankful for your generosity. The books I received have helped my students learn about their emotions and how to manage their emotions. I love reading the books to my students and asking questions about times they have experienced certain emotions, what happened that made them feel that emotion, and what helped them feel better. These books open up other conversations about what my students like to do at home or with their friends, which is a great way for me to connect with them and for them to connect with each other.\r\n\r\nThe games provided in this project have helped my students tolerate things like not getting to go first all the time, taking and waiting turns, and losing. I have watched two students in particular make great progress in their ability to handle frustrations around games, which is starting to generalize to other aspects of their lives. These games also support my students with impulse control-especially Jenga!\r\n\r\nThe Lego set I received in this project have helped my quieter students become more comfortable with me, allowing them to open up more. It has helped other students practice asking for help when it's hard to build with the Legos. The Lego set has been recently helpful with some of my students with Autism Spectrum Disorder who are learning how to take turns, request a turn, and wait for a turn, and I have been so impressed with their growth in these skills.
