Our students have greatly benefited from the use of small whiteboards in the classroom. The boards have encouraged individual participation and engagement by allowing students to practice writing letters and numbers, draw shapes, and take part in other hands‑on learning. The boards have also been excellent for fostering creativity; we can provide immediate feedback, and students can easily erase and correct their work. This interaction has aided the development of fine motor skills and has enhanced students' confidence in their abilities.\r\n\r\nThe large portable whiteboard easel has been a valuable resource for group activities. We have used it to introduce new concepts in early literacy, such as letter recognition and phonics. By writing letters and words on the easel, students visually follow along and practice sounding out words together. This collaborative approach helps build communication skills and encourages teamwork among students.\r\n\r\nFor math learning, the large easel is used to demonstrate counting exercises as well as simple addition and subtraction. We draw visual aids such as number lines and sets of objects to help children grasp basic math concepts. The flexibility of a portable easel allows it to be moved around the classroom, making it accessible for various activities and group settings.\r\n\r\nOverall, the combination of small whiteboards for individual tasks and a large easel for group instruction creates a dynamic, interactive learning environment. We appreciate your support. This setup supports early literacy and math skills, making learning both effective and enjoyable for our young students.","fullyFundedDate":1756239357109,"projectUrl":"project/when-we-draw-and-write-together-we-bui/9633127/","projectTitle":"\"When we draw and write together, we build friendships!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tracy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9221733_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758030890990","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9221733"},{"teacherId":9221733,"projectId":9540235,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to Stars Early Learning Center! Your gift of a market stand, play money, goods, and related materials has become central to our hands‑on learning, supporting year‑round imaginative play. Our children use the market for grocery and marketplace activities and extend play into scenarios such as pet stores and veterinarian offices, keeping the materials engaging and relevant throughout the school year.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, students take on meaningful roles — cashier, cook, store manager, banker, and customer — and are given choice and agency in what they sell, how they set prices, and how they manage transactions. These activities have promoted leadership, negotiation, collaboration, and ownership of learning as our students practice multi‑step transactions, share duties, and reflect on their actions, strengthening social skills and confidence.\r\n\r\nOverall, the market center you contributed reinforces early math, financial thinking, problem‑solving, and language development in developmentally appropriate ways, as I had intended. As children set prices, make change, offer discounts, and resolve pretend-play goods shortages, they build number sense, practice addition and subtraction, plan and adapt, and engage in dialogue about items and choices.\r\n\r\nYour support has been transformative: it has enriched our curriculum, fostered sustained engagement, and helped create a joyful, student‑centered environment where children feel trusted and proud. We have done such things as set up different art stations around the classroom (e.g., painting, collage, drawing). After students create their artwork, they can place their projects on the drying rack. We discuss how each project is special and needs time to dry, just like how plants need time to grow. This encourages patience and care for their work. The drying rack is a material that will be in our room year after year, and it`s crucial to have one in any preschool classroom. We previously did not have one and it was hectic trying to find places for art work to dry in our smaller-sized room. Thank you again for providing this resource as a safe place for precious art work to dry and not get bumped into, torn, etc. Again, we are very thankful for your generous donation.","fullyFundedDate":1747930241585,"projectUrl":"project/self-expression-kept-safe-and-sound/9215317/","projectTitle":"Self-Expression Kept Safe and Sound","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tracy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9221733_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758030890990","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9221733"},{"teacherId":9221733,"projectId":8610937,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the wonderful learning toys that my students needed. Your generosity has truly brightened our classroom and brought smiles to our children's faces this school year. The ice cream for counting has been a big hit in the playhouse area, where students created their own ice cream shop, practicing their counting and favorite flavors. The letter train set has been fantastic for hands-on letter naming practice, allowing students to sing the alphabet together and even spell small words. The catch a letter game has engaged those who need repetition, while the shape sort cupcakes have reinforced shape names during playtime. \r\n\r\nAlso, thank you so much for the wonderful alphabet sorter tubs! They have become a key component in our large group letter time, and I love how they add a little bit of competitive practice review for the students. The white construction paper was also much needed; we recently used it to create large forest maps for bears while learning about their habitats. \r\n\r\nYour thoughtful contributions have made a significant impact on our classroom activities! And your support means the world to us, helping to open our students' eyes to learning in ways they may not experience at home. Your materials have helped four preschool classrooms in the Adams 14 School District immensely.\r\n\r\nThe large visual timers have been instrumental in helping students with transitions and understanding the concept of time, particularly during turn-taking games and other activities. Instead of tears, we now see students using the sand timers to resolve sharing issues independently .\r\n\r\nThe kinetic sand has provided a wonderful range of sensory experiences, especially when integrated into our mathematics lessons. Students have enjoyed forming the kinetic sand into cubes for use with ten frames and in 3D shape molds.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the \"Let's Go Fishing\" game has been a fantastic addition, allowing four students to play together while learning about patience, regulation, and self-control. Lastly, the large liquid tiles create a calming environment, aiding in managing hyperactivity and enhancing focus.\r\n\r\nAll four classrooms are incredibly thankful for these materials. Having these important materials would not have been possible without your support.","fullyFundedDate":1723122609454,"projectUrl":"project/visual-regulation-tools-for-littles/8561634/","projectTitle":"Visual Regulation Tools for Littles","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tracy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9221733_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758030890990","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9221733"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_95473","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":74,"numTeachers":5,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":89,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":71.7,"schoolId":95473,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stars Early Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stars Early Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/adams-county-school-district-14/acsd-14-child-care-center/95473"}
