My young learners are so excited to use their writing journals everyday...often asking, \"Is it time for writing yet?\" They have a clear space designated for illustrating. The primary lined portion allows these new writers to practice handwriting! It is joyful and fulfilling to see brand new authors excited about writing and willing to take risks and try new things. What a gift it was to have new resources for my classroom. For math, students are practice\\ing skills independently by having subitizing and ten frame dice which allows them to practice their structure of number.\r\nThe math Swatters Addition and Subtraction Game as well as the Pop to Win Math game are motivational because they are fun and allow the students to apply their math learning in a game setting. Game spinners are used in my classroom so I can customize games to the skills my students are learning.\r\n\r\nMy literacy students are practicing phonemic awareness using Lakeshore Ryhming, CVC words and Magic E supplies which all follow our district scope and sequence for kindergarten. The alphabet bean bags are a hands on manipulative to learn the alphabet that allows student movement which increases their gross motor development. The LCD writing boards are a motivational way for students to practice high frequency words and write sentences as an alternative to paper and pencil.\r\n\r\nI copy and make decodable texts for my students so an automatic stapler helps assemble texts. I often write texts for students on sentence strips so the permanent and felt tip markers are helpful. My students use dry erase markers daily to practice skills on whiteboards. The laminator allows me to be able to reuse activities like picture sorts and word cards that my students are interacting with.\r\n\r\nWorking with young students I know the importance of hands on materials and using resources that will allow me to meet the academic needs of my intervention students in a motivating way.
