Many of our students struggle with playing near peers and moving through the building. The impact of not being aware of their bodies affected the way they played with peers and also which areas of the school allowed them to feel \"safe\". Certain students use the vests for varying amounts of time. Since the introduction of the vests, we have been able to get more than 12 students from working alone to being able to navigate through the school and stand near peers and play. The impact of having consistent pressure is calming for our students, particularly those students who have autism. We wear the vests for brief times and the impact after they are removed is also amazing. Some students are creating grade level work after time in the vests!. \r\n\r\nThe hex lights have been transformational for students who are dysregulated. These students can go to the sensory room, away from the noise and fluorescent classroom lights, and access the hex light array. Students calm, create patterns, learn colors, and ask for more while their bodies calm and regulate. I work with young learners (before they enter preschool) on fine motor skills and sensory regulation. These additional tools are so impactful to their learning and development. \r\n\r\nWe have already started using crayons for pre-writing and coloring and the dotter markers to increase grasp, strength, and precision skills.
