This year I'm also celebrating student successes with Accomplishment Necklaces. Each ball chain necklace has a student's name spelled out using the ABC beads from this project. Students have already begun earning beads to put on their individual necklaces! Finally, the paper circles are being used, along with custom thermal printer stickers and a button maker from a previous Donors Choose project, to create custom achievement buttons! No one has earned them yet, but I know they will be a complete surprise once they do. Metric measurement can be challenging for students because of its unfamiliarity. These weight sets helped my students understand the mass of real objects in our classroom such as pencils, books, and headphones. My students were amazed at how light 1gram feels, especially when compared to 1 ounce. Students planned and worked hard to create their facades (You can see their finished creations in the photos for this project.). After their creations were completed, I asked our PE Aide and STEAM Teacher to come in and \"judge\" their structures while students were at lunch. Their chosen winners got bragging rights and our school-wide PBIS prize tickets as their rewards. Students had so much fun! \r\n\r\nThis challenge was such a success that I hope to attempt a couple more before the year is over! Students were also given 3 raffle tickets on each day of testing. Students worked hard and stayed on task so that they could keep their 3 tickets and redeem them for ClassDojo points each day. The stamp, along with others I already had, was used to make sticky note \"stickers\" that were given to students who were demonstrating their best effort and showing their work while they were testing. Students are developing critical thinking skills as they troubleshoot designs, collaborate with peers, and persist through challenges.\r\n\r\nBeyond the standards, these kits have sparked excitement and curiosity across all grade levels.
