These whiteboards have been immensely helpful for students to brainstorm ideas and show understanding in a much more engaging and creative way. These boards have transformed the way we practice writing and share our thoughts, allowing students to make mistakes, receive feedback, and revise in real-time. \r\n\r\nOne particularly memorable moment occurred when students were asked to work in pairs to identify physical traits of an onion (a symbol used in the novel we were studying) as well as to provide deeper, metaphorical interpretations of those traits. Many students who regularly struggle to make their voices heard were able to join the group brainstorm and expand the discussion to a whole new level, simply because they were able to easily map out their thoughts on the whiteboard first. The boards have become essential tools for peer collaboration, discussion, and reflection.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue integrating these whiteboards into our lessons, from quick formative checks during novels to drafting poems and planning essays. Having this resource has made learning more interactive, accessible, and supportive for all learners in our classroom, and I cannot thank you enough for helping every student feel seen and heard.","fullyFundedDate":1758833172027,"projectUrl":"project/words-in-action-whiteboards-that-bring/9728523/","projectTitle":"Words in Action: Whiteboards That Bring Every Voice to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Frazer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10266728_orig.jpg?crop=1787,1787,x474,y121&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758231030558","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10266728"},{"teacherId":9968568,"projectId":9170452,"letterContent":"The student leadership team at the Willits Charter School is incredibly grateful for the generosity of those who helped fund our student incentive project. As a charter school, we receive less funding then general public schools. This means that our school has no funding for any of the projects that the student leadership team hosts.\r\n\r\nWe pay for all the expenses related to all student leadership events, field trips and student store incentives. The student store incentives is the most expensive component that we pay for. Teachers award student merits when they are being extra responsible, compassionate and engaged at school. The students are then able to use those merits to purchase incentives which are primarily fidgets, sunglasses, art supplies, stuff animals and similar items. We pride ourselves in having students who are generally very caring. They are also very motivated by receiving merits to go above and beyond. The joy on students faces when walk away with their student incentives is noteworthy.","fullyFundedDate":1750256147190,"projectUrl":"project/student-leadership-student-incentive-pro/9170452/","projectTitle":"Student Leadership Student Incentive Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Clivaz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9968568_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x10,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742001281718","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9968568"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68725","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":123,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":75.3,"schoolId":68725,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Willits Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Willits Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/willits-unified-school-district/willits-charter-school/68725"}
