Your kindness has made a meaningful difference for our high school students. Teenagers are almost always hungry, and having snacks available has become a powerful way to encourage participation and recognize positive behavior. Because of your support, I'm able to offer a variety of incentives, including individual snack packs, assorted treats, and healthier options like beef sticks, applesauce squeezes, and fruit snacks. Providing choices ensures that all students feel included, especially those who are mindful of nutrition for athletics or personal goals.\r\n\r\nThe raffle tickets and \"treasure chest\" rewards have created excitement and motivation in our classroom. Students are more engaged, eager to participate, and proud to earn recognition for their efforts. Additionally, your donation has also helped meet a real need. Some students simply come to school hungry. Having items like Nutri-Grain bars available helps them stay focused on instruction rather than their empty stomachs.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helps to support both positive behavior, rapport building and student well-being. Your donation has made a meaningful difference in helping us maintain a clean, healthy learning environment for our students. While we can't control every germ that enters our room, your contribution has given us the tools to better manage what stays. Because of you, we were able to purchase effective, non-toxic cleaning supplies that are safe for students with sensitivities to strong smells and allergens. The Seventh Generation Free & Clear spray, antibacterial wipes, and microfiber cloths have helped us keep desks and shared surfaces sanitized, especially during times when many students were getting sick.\r\n\r\nThe addition of hand wipes, hand sanitizer, and soft tissues has also been incredibly helpful in reducing the spread of germs and promoting healthy habits throughout the day. Students are more mindful about cleaning their hands and workspace, and it has created a greater sense of shared responsibility within our classroom community. These materials are more than just supplies, they are an investment in my students' health, comfort, and ability to focus on learning. Our classroom truly appreciate your generosity and your commitment to supporting a safe and welcoming space for every student.","fullyFundedDate":1763474707771,"projectUrl":"project/germs-spread-fast-help-us-stay-healthy/9469932/","projectTitle":"Germs spread fast, help us stay healthy and learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9026462_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y177&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690616263385","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9026462"},{"teacherId":9026462,"projectId":9538741,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! Because of your support, our students have been able to begin creating a special flexible seating and calming corner that is already making a meaningful difference in their daily school experience. Since receiving your donation, students eagerly helped me set up and build our cozy little space. While we are still adding cushions and continuing to make it even more comfortable, many students have already had the opportunity to use the area for focused work or as a place to relax after completing their assignments and any make-up work.\r\n\r\nThis calming corner has become more than just a seating option. It provides students with a space to reset, regulate their emotions, and return to learning with a clearer mind. Some students use it as a quiet reward they can earn, which has become a positive incentive in our classroom. What has been especially heartwarming is watching students who were initially too shy to sit there gradually grow more confident and choose the space independently, feeling safe and at ease while they work. The impact has extended beyond our classroom walls. Students from other classes occasionally visit during lunch or before school to contribute to the daily coloring page. I rotate the pages to keep things fresh and engaging, and several students have shared that coloring helps ease their anxiety and manage the stress of their workload.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable, calm, and ready to learn. We have so much fun with these whiteboards, markers and erasers. Students are able to enjoy fun random questions as a bell ringer that help them to explore thoughts they might not have had, such as what do you want to be after high school, what is your favorite activity, or if you could have any animal as a pet what would it be? It has also given them opportunities to delve deeper into thoughts about their own mental health, such as what do you like best about yourself, what is a quality you value in a friend, or what is something good or positive that happened this week? It has also allowed them to be creative with questions/prompts such as draw a dog, draw your favorite snack or draw a snowman without looking.\r\n\r\nWe have a lot of fun with these questions. In addition to fun questions, we also use them for students to answer review questions. This has helped bring some more quiet students out of their shell and offer them a chance to participate in their own way. I am incredibly grateful for your kindness, your donation has truly made a meaningful difference for both my students and me. Having a printer in the classroom has been a game changer. It allows me to quickly print out materials in the moment, whether it's a last-minute worksheet, updated grades, or visuals to support a lesson. My students especially enjoy when I print out in-class photos for their projects or vibrant images of tourist attractions from around the world, sparking curiosity and excitement about places they've never seen.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting additions to our classroom, is with a large printed map (the map is bought) complete with strings connecting to photos of landmarks around the globe. Students can walk up to it anytime, explore the world by reading key facts, or scan QR codes to dive deeper into each location. It's become an interactive learning tool that we use during lessons and learning stations, and it never fails to capture their interest.\r\n\r\nThe printer has also made a huge difference in terms of inclusion and accessibility. I can now quickly provide materials in multiple languages for new students, create board walls, and print differentiated resources, like answers and guided notes for students with learning differences or last minute injuries that prevent them from writing. The small changes have had a big impact.\r\n\r\nThis is just the beginning. Your generosity has opened up so many doors for creativity, engagement and personalized learning in my classroom.
