These materials have made a significant and positive impact on my students' social and emotional growth.\r\nThe social stories focused on sharing, emotional regulation, and managing worry have been especially effective because they meet students exactly where they are in their psychological development. By presenting relatable scenarios and concrete strategies, these stories help students understand and navigate complex feelings in a way that feels accessible and supportive.\r\nAdditionally, the curriculum books addressing anger management, self-esteem, social skills, and relational aggression have been pivotal in my small counseling groups. These resources offer structured guidance and practical tools that empower students to build healthier relationships, increase self-awareness, and develop essential coping skills.\r\nSince using these counseling materials, I have observed notable positive changes in my students' behavior. Students are demonstrating improved emotional regulation—they are better able to recognize and express their feelings calmly rather than acting out. Sharing and cooperation during group activities have increased, reflecting greater social understanding. Many students show reduced anxiety and worry, often using the strategies learned from the social stories to self-soothe. In small groups, I've seen enhanced communication skills, stronger self-esteem, and more respectful interactions, with fewer incidents of relational aggression. Overall, the students appear more confident and engaged in building healthy relationships.\r\nThe students have responded very positively to the new counseling environment. The cozy rug and curtains create a warm, inviting space that helps them feel safe and relaxed. This comfort encourages more open sharing and participation during sessions. Many students mention feeling more at ease and look forward to coming to counseling, which has strengthened their engagement and willingness to work on their social-emotional goals.\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students are benefiting from a comprehensive, nurturing approach to social-emotional learning that truly supports their growth and well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1720911337437,"projectUrl":"project/the-art-of-building-a-comfortable-and-e/8454970/","projectTitle":"\"The Art of Building a Comfortable and Empowering Space\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chelsea","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9304674_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695843517831","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9304674"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89482","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":771,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":63,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"19.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":79.1,"schoolId":89482,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pomolita Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pomolita Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/ukiah-unified-school-district/pomolita-middle-school/89482"}
