With wide eyes and excited voices, they asked, \"What are in the boxes, Mrs. Yount?\"\r\n\r\nI shared with them that I had been working on getting something special to help them rest more comfortably during quiet time. I told them I had noticed how they often curled up because the bare carpet was so cold, and they eagerly agreed. When we opened the boxes and they realized they were rest mats, the room filled with joy and excitement. Many of them saying thank you! I told them that some very kind people helped us with these mats. We used them that very day, and the smiles on their faces said it all as they happily rested their little bodies on mats that were so much cozier than the bare carpet.\r\n\r\nI am truly grateful for your kind hearts. Through drawing, painting, cutting, and building, students strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and problem-solving. Art also supports early academic skills like following directions, recognizing shapes and colors, and building focus and confidence. Most importantly, it allows students to express their ideas and emotions in a joyful, meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the new art materials during our centers and whole-group art time. One special moment was when students created self-portraits using different art tools and materials. They carefully chose colors to represent themselves and proudly shared their artwork with classmates. The variety of supplies allowed each child to create something unique and personal.\r\n\r\nThe students were extremely excited when they first saw the new art supplies. Their faces lit up, and many said, \"Wow!\" and \"Can I use this?\" They were eager to explore the materials and couldn't wait to start creating. The excitement carried over into their work, and they stayed engaged for longer periods of time.\r\n\r\nNext, students will use the art materials to support our current learning themes, including shapes, letters, and storytelling. They will create artwork connected to books we read in class and practice using art to tell stories and explain their thinking. These materials will continue to support creativity, confidence, and skill development throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1755742116361,"projectUrl":"project/art-supplies-help-tk-students-create-ex/9431117/","projectTitle":"Art Supplies Help TK Students Create, Express, and Build skills","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chahal","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9902106_orig.jpg?crop=793,793,x563,y211&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750790301441","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9902106"},{"teacherId":4581693,"projectId":9741307,"letterContent":"I am so thankful for the items in this project! When I added the recordable buttons for the sight words, the students lined up to press the colorful buttons so that they can hear what the word card says. They loved them! I am looking forward to changing/ adding more words as soon as they master the first trimester sight words. The posters are very eye-catching. They add interest on otherwise bare shelf surfaces. They can use them as references and \"silent\" teachers as they explore their learning environment. The hands-on letter matching boards and the wikki sticks add tactile experiences as we continue to explore letters and numbers in our centers. \r\n\r\nThe words thank you are not enough to express how grateful I am for helping me with these learning materials. These containers made it so much easier to make materials accessible for my students. Because they can see the contents of these bins, the urge to dump the contents to get what they want was eliminated. It also made tidying up so much easier because there is a home for everything. The bins are labeled and so are the spots where they are placed on the shelves. This system with the help of the transparent bins made organization and making materials/resources available for my students. I did not have to take away materials just so I can use the same container for the other materials I want to put out. I was impressed by their independence and willingness to clean up because everything is visible and the bins are small and light enough to stow away. \r\n\r\nThere was a problem with the availability of the original set of bins requested from a vendor in this project. The drawers to organize student art and daily work had been a huge time saver. Besides saving time, the students learned to independently file their art work and daily worksheets in their assigned drawers. They find their drawer labeled with their name and picture then file their work. They take pride in this independence while learning to be organized. This routine had made quite an impression to other teachers/administrators who came to visit and observe our class. They noticed how well our students are in following routine and taking ownership in organizing their own work. \r\n\r\nThe art materials had been put to good use in our art center and for fine motor exercises. The students used the pompoms for art collages and also for a fine motor activity where they picked up the pompoms with a tweezer from a try into a small container repeatedly to strengthen their grip. The easel was used to display our morning message informing my young learners what we will study daily. I also used it to model how to use the feathers for painting. This is to give them an idea that they can use other tools to apply color/paint on paper.
