I am so happy to see that my students who need extra practice in fine motor skills are drawn to these sensory boards. They present a level of challenge without frustrating them. The dinosaur, star, and hexagonal shapes add variations to this activity. The colors are very eye-catching too. The silicone material makes it safe for them to manipulate. They also found a creative use to the silicone strands and pretended that they were \"noodles\" and served them in bowls/plates in our play kitchen. \r\n\r\nI am so pleased with how these materials are enhancing my students' creative learning and persistence as they develop their fine motor skills and learn about shapes. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity in making these learning experiences happen in my classroom. These containers made it so much easier to make materials accessible for my students. Because they can see the contents of these bins, the urge to dump the contents to get what they want was eliminated. It also made tidying up so much easier because there is a home for everything. The bins are labeled and so are the spots where they are placed on the shelves. This system with the help of the transparent bins made organization and making materials/resources available for my students. I did not have to take away materials just so I can use the same container for the other materials I want to put out. I was impressed by their independence and willingness to clean up because everything is visible and the bins are small and light enough to stow away. \r\n\r\nThere was a problem with the availability of the original set of bins requested from a vendor in this project. I was able to swap them with similar bins from another vendor and had remaining funds used to purchase the squiggly toys that my students sure love to use to help develop their fine motor and social skills while having fun. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping my class with these storage bins! These puzzles represent different kinds of families. Some students shared about their grandparents and their cousins. One also shared that her family is big just like one of the puzzles. \r\n\r\nThese puzzles were more challenging than the previous ones I showed. I modeled to them the strategy of looking for the corners and then the pieces that have straight sides. Then, I showed them to match colors, shapes, and patterns; and to turn the pieces around if they do not quite fit. They were jubilant when they succeeded in putting a puzzle together and proceeded to get another one. \r\n\r\nThese puzzles truly elevate their analytical thinking skills. Even when the puzzles are challenging, they persevere and apply the strategies that were taught to them. The drawers to organize student art and daily work had been a huge time saver. Besides saving time, the students learned to independently file their art work and daily worksheets in their assigned drawers. They find their drawer labeled with their name and picture then file their work. They take pride in this independence while learning to be organized. This routine had made quite an impression to other teachers/administrators who came to visit and observe our class. They noticed how well our students are in following routine and taking ownership in organizing their own work. \r\n\r\nThe art materials had been put to good use in our art center and for fine motor exercises. The students used the pompoms for art collages and also for a fine motor activity where they picked up the pompoms with a tweezer from a try into a small container repeatedly to strengthen their grip. The easel was used to display our morning message informing my young learners what we will study daily. I also used it to model how to use the feathers for painting. This is to give them an idea that they can use other tools to apply color/paint on paper. This was an art activity related to our study about birds. \r\n\r\nI am so thankful for making these experiences possible for my class. I am so grateful for these materials that made learning immersive and exciting for my TK students! They were so interested to read the book about Lunar New Year preparations. They were so amazed to watch the dragon and lion dances, and the parade in San Francisco. We also had our own parade inside the classroom in their lucky red clothes, dragon hats, and hand drums. Then, true to tradition, the children received red envelopes with chocolate gold coins, lucky candy, and fortune cookies in the red organza bags.
