As a school-based speech-language pathologist, I have the privilege of working with students ranging from preschool through early elementary school. I love supporting their communication journeys and partnering with families as we celebrate each child's growth. With the addition of younger preschool students and the implementation of a TK/Kindergarten program, I was hoping to expand my collection of therapy materials to better meet the needs of my students. Thanks to your generosity, I was able to do just that.\r\n\r\nThe students were incredibly excited when they first saw the new materials. The sensory tools, especially the kinetic sand, quickly became favorites during therapy sessions. These materials provide engaging opportunities for students to practice requesting, describing, answering questions, and expanding their language skills through play. The movement-based games, including the mini basketball hoop and cornhole set, have also had a tremendous impact. Many of my students learn best when they are actively engaged, and these games allow them to practice communication skills while moving their bodies and having fun.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments occurred during a small group therapy session focused on turn-taking and social communication. Students practiced their speech and language goals before earning a turn with the basketball hoop. They encouraged one another, waited patiently, and celebrated each other's successes. Even students who are often reluctant to participate were eager to join in. The activity naturally promoted communication, social interaction, and confidence while keeping students motivated and engaged.\r\n\r\nThe gift cards for Teachers Pay Teachers and the laminating supplies have also been invaluable. They have allowed me to create and prepare customized materials that directly target my students' individual needs. I have been able to make visual supports, language activities, articulation games, and other resources that can be used again and again throughout the school year. Having access to these materials helps me provide more effective and engaging therapy for the many students I serve.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, I plan to continue incorporating these resources into lessons that focus on language development, articulation, social communication, and early learning skills. The new materials will be especially helpful as I continue working with our growing preschool and TK populations. My goal is to create therapy experiences that are meaningful, interactive, and motivating so that students feel successful as they develop essential communication skills.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping provide resources that make learning both effective and enjoyable. Your generosity has given my students new opportunities to communicate, connect, and grow. The impact of your donation will continue to be felt throughout the year, and I am truly grateful for your support of our small voices.","fullyFundedDate":1778022748934,"projectUrl":"project/small-voices-big-growth/10187029/","projectTitle":"Small Voices, Big Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Allison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7637596"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_31218","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":736,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":46,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":13,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.2,"schoolId":31218,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tony Tobin Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tony Tobin Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/temecula-valley-unified-school-district/tony-tobin-elementary-school/31218"}
