It provides a model for them of fluent and inflectional reading, while listening to a great story. Subsequently, we then have the opportunity to discuss elements of the novel as a class. The very best result of sharing a novel in my class is seeing many students get excited enough to explore a genre outside of their usual choice. Many find that they love the author's style and seek out books by the same author. I recently took a class on how to use sensory bins during my sessions. The class shared that the sensory bins will help support developmental growth in language, social skills, cognitive abilities, and executive functioning. I work with students TK- 3 and all have absolutely enjoyed playing with the sensory bins. Last week we had a Valentines sensory bin with cupcake holders and students made a variety of flavors of cupcakes such as: strawberry, blueberry, and pizza flavor. This week the sensory bins are filled with kinetic sand, dinosaurs and trees.
