We saw how much it positively impacted our students from the moment we got it, and are excited to have it all year long with us this upcoming school year. \r\n\r\nOur new rug has completely transformed our classroom community time! It's now the heart of our day where we gather for morning meetings, read-alouds, songs, and whole-group lessons. One special moment was having the students pick what letter of the rug they wanted to sit on. We gave students the chance to have autonomy over their learning space and we could see their excitement. Our morning meetings after that were even more special. The rug gave them a cozy, safe space to open up and connect with their peers.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nTheir reactions were priceless! As soon as they walked in and saw the bright, soft rug laid out, they ran over and started pointing out their favorite colors and recognized all the letters. They loved the area and became even more special after the rug was there. \r\n\r\nYour donors got a little peek into your classroom by contributing to your project, and we know that they'd love to learn more. What are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\n\r\nWe had the rug at the end of the year and it really transformed our lessons. We interacted with the rug, such as letters and colors, and we also had a space to better interact with one another. As the school year rolls around again, we are planning on having students work on building our social-emotional learning skills, like sharing, listening, and using kind words. The rug will become a central part of these lessons—it gives us a space to gather and practice those skills in real time.
