Every Friday, my students read to a book buddy of their choosing to practices their fluency skills. They treat the buddies like real animals and care for them when using them. My students cuddle with them, read to them, and care for them. Many of my student's love using a book buddy or too to help calm big emotions as well! We have seen a huge improvement with their reading and comprehension skills!
