Your donation has had an immediate and meaningful impact. This spring, my students had the opportunity to explore packaged collections like sticker sets and binder clip packs, which allowed them to break numbers apart and begin working with the foundations of multiplication. These hands-on experiences helped them develop a stronger sense of how numbers work together, and it was incredible to see their excitement and confidence grow as they made new mathematical discoveries.\r\n\r\nWhile we didn't yet have the chance to use the larger counting collections this school year, I'm excited to incorporate them into next year's instruction. Materials such as shells, cereal, and marbles will allow future students to work with higher quantities and deepen their number sense even further. Your support has given our classroom a lasting gift that will continue to foster meaningful and engaging math learning for years to come. Your support has already made a powerful difference in our classroom community, and I want to share how these materials are being used and appreciated each and every day.\r\n\r\nOne of the most important lessons we teach in second grade goes beyond reading, writing, and math: it's the ability to understand and manage emotions. At this age, students are developing key social and emotional skills—like recognizing their feelings, calming themselves down, resolving conflicts, and showing empathy to others. The materials you donated are helping us approach these important lessons in a way that is engaging, hands-on, and accessible for all learners.","fullyFundedDate":1746495030325,"projectUrl":"project/feeling-all-the-feels/9170822/","projectTitle":"Feeling All the Feels!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. LaPrelle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2403087_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1475386353728","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-a-fox"},{"teacherId":2403087,"projectId":9144101,"letterContent":"I want to extend my deepest thanks on behalf of my second-grade students and myself for your thoughtful and generous donation of new headphones to our classroom. Your support has had an immediate and meaningful impact, and I'm thrilled to share with you how this gift is already transforming our learning environment.\r\n\r\nTechnology has become an essential part of how we teach and how students learn, especially in the elementary grades. In our classroom, we use technology in a variety of ways to support literacy, math, and even social-emotional learning. Each day, students rotate through learning stations that include activities on tablets and computers. These include interactive reading programs, phonics games, math practice, and engaging digital storybooks. Having quality headphones means that students can focus more deeply, learn at their own pace, and work independently without being distracted or distracting others.","fullyFundedDate":1741386984137,"projectUrl":"project/in-the-groove-with-new-headphones/9144101/","projectTitle":"In the Groove with New Headphones!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. LaPrelle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2403087_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1475386353728","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-a-fox"},{"teacherId":1568150,"projectId":8749360,"letterContent":"Since my project was funded thanks to your generous donations, my students have had the pleasure of going through two novel studies. Our first novel study was on Frog and Toad Are Friends, and our second novel study was on Henry and Mudge: The First Book. My second graders loved reading through both stories, following along with their own copies and practicing reading aloud with expression. \r\n\r\nThe instructional guides that went along with each novel allowed us to dig deeper into the stories, focusing on everything from character analysis and vocabulary. I was able to use the provided questions to lead students into meaningful group discussions, and the writing prompts offered to students were rich in inspiration and encouraged creative expression. \r\n\r\nThe inclusion of Reader's Theater scripts at the end of each novel study allowed my students to engage with our school's emphasis on visual and performing arts in a meaningful way. For Frog and Toad Are Friends, students crafted stick puppets and filmed a scene from one of the chapters. For Henry and Mudge: The First Book, students created masks and acted out a vital moment from the story. \r\n\r\nBoth books sparked genuine enthusiasm, with many students expressing a desire to read more titles from both series.
